John Wilbanks - When did you start collecting and how did you get into the hobby?
Destroyer14 - It was actually back in January. I've had a Godzilla and Gigan figure for over ten years when they sold them at KB Toys and other places, but never started 'collecting' until January of this year. Joining the TOHO Kingdom forums was influential. Seeing all those collections inspired me to start my own, as a Godzilla fan.
John Wilbanks - Your collection is focused on Godzilla. What draws you to that character?
Destroyer14 - Oh it goes way back. I've been into Godzilla as far back as I remember. My dad had got me into it, my furthest memory is him bringing home a few VHS tapes. Ghidorah, Vs. Mechagodzilla II, Vs. Destoroyah, and Vs. Biollante. How can one not like Godzilla? He's a giant monster that battles other giant monsters. Unlike American monsters, (save for the awesome Cloverfield monster) the monsters in the Godzilla series are portrayed as unstoppable beasts. Godzilla is a character whom I've grown up with, I will always be a fan.
John Wilbanks - Do you collect anything else?
Destroyer14 - Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Godzilla comics.
John Wilbanks - What are your favorite collectible companies?
Destroyer14 - Hmm, Bandai is the one I get my figures from usually. Banpresto is also a great company. Y-MSF has some cool figures.
John Wilbanks - What is your favorite part of collecting?
Destroyer14 - To see all my Godzilla figures standing proudly as I walk into the room.
John Wilbanks - What is the key thing you look for in an item you want to add to your collection?
Destroyer14 - If it's a good representation of the character, and if the size is good. (Anything under six inches I don't normally buy.)
John Wilbanks - What does your significant other think of your collection?
Destroyer14 - Unfortunately, I don't have that 'significant other' yet. (Where are all the female Godzilla fans?) When I do find her, I'm sure she'll appreciate it.
John Wilbanks - What is your favorite movie?
Destroyer14 - Godzilla: Final Wars. (If you're reading this and haven't seen it yet, what are you waiting for?) Man I love that film, it's so fast-paced and never gets dull. And so many kaiju! (That means monsters for those that don't know.)
John Wilbanks - What is your favorite piece from your collection?
Destroyer14 - That's a tough one. Titanosaurus is a huge contender, but I'm going to go ahead and say my most expensive figure, the $125 Keizer Ghidorah. (The yellow and black three-headed beast.)
John Wilbanks - What are some items you are most looking forward to adding to your collection?
Destroyer14 - More Ultra monsters, someday a Biollante, and many more figures.
John Wilbanks - Finally, what is your favorite aspect of ComicBookMovie.com?
Destroyer14 - In my two years with CBM, I gotta say that my favorite aspect is the logo. Don't you just love that logo? But really, my favorite aspect is the actual articles and reviews, always entertaining reads.
John Wilbanks - Anything else you want to add about your collection?
Destroyer14 - Still a growing collection. Godzilla is my passion, and my figures display that. Now bring on the new film.
