For fans that didn't already know, the amazing Scarface film is set to hit Blu-ray quite soon and while out promoting the release, one of the film's stars turned producer, Steven Bauer, gives us a bit of an update on the progress of Universal's unnecessary reboot of the Wolfman project. Bauer, who played "Manny" in the popular gangster flick, is acting as aproducer for the upcoming reboot and he tells Movie Hole that two actors have alreay signed on to the project.

"What I could say is that Stephen Rea is already casted. The great Irish English actor, Stephen Rea is in the film. And another American who’s maybe… Another American, Ed Quinn is in it too.

Most people would know Stephen Ras for his role as "Finch" in James McTeigue's adaptation of V for Vendetta. Ed Quinn is a lesser known actor, but he has had a recurring role on SyFy's now-cancelled Eureka, as well as HBO's hit series True Blood. No word on what his role would be, but Rea will be playing the lead role in the film, which is to be directed by Louis Morneau, who is most known for his direct-to-DVD films.

The script for the film is actually a reworked version of what was to be the sequel to Joe Johnston's Wolman film, which failed to earn its budget back at the box office. Universal opted to reboot the franchise instead of continuing with the series it initially attempted to set up.

I'm a fan of Rea and he definitely has the right look for the film, much like Benicio del Toro did in the previous film, but I fear that he does not have the star power needed to make this film a success. The fact that they hired a straight-to-DVD director does nothing to boost my hopes either. This film seems to be doomed from the get-go, but only time will tell. I guess it couldn't be any worse that del Toro's film right...?

Love Stephen Rea, but why are they rebooting this? Wouldn't that make it a reboot of a reboot? WHAT THE H?? Why don't they reboot something that NEEDS to be rebooted...like those last three shitty Star Wars movies?

I honestly dont know what to say anymore... except this is just plain stupid :/

Rea is great actor and i love his movies (The Grying Game and The Company of Wolves) but i doubt he can save this.

Just invent a new great story if you want to make a good werewolf film. Its not that hard just use some [frick]ing imagination dammit!
Dont reboot or remake anything and i mean ANYTHING!

The Wolfman was half decent so please... LET IT BE!

They JUST updated it! And the Del Toro version was great.
There should be a waiting period of 10 years before any re-boots.
Just make another one following the storyline of the last. Got that Universal. We have spoken!

the feeling I have about this, is that if they are going to reboot a movie, is that it should make is closest to the original as they can be, even into the FX that was used, bring it up to date as much as can be, but to not be the cgi we've come to expect from Hollywood cgi we've come to expect from there no long snouts just a face change by getting hairer, and such

staying true to the original 1941's wolfman look was the wrong the way to go. they shoulda at least REINVENT the lycanic look. since the idea ain't original, the least joe johnston shoulda done was to come up with a whole new look and feel to the remake. i think many of the audience's disappointment with the whole project is the wolfman's old-fashioned look and the lack of scary attacks through out the movie.

and picking an american in a whole british surrounding just making it feel like a remake of an american werewolf in london, but a lot DULLER.
