Vulture report that David Yates could have the pick of some very interesting projects over at Warner Bros. The first being their new adaptation of Stephen King's much loved novel(and comic) The Stand. The second is the non CBM related Al Capone biopic Cicero which might possibly star TDKR's Tom Hardy if his schedule allows. And finally a project that has been in development Hell for a good long time, popular DC Vertigo adap Fables
Here are some excerpts from Vulture's article..
..Our spies tell us that Yates is flying into town tomorrow, and has been rereading King’s epic-length supernatural classic. We’re told Yates will decide if he wants to do the film sometime in the next two weeks...
..We’re told the studio is also eager to put him on Fables, based on a Vertigo Comics graphic novel that seems an awful lot like NBC’s forthcoming series Grimm. Set in the Fabletown section of Manhattan's Upper West Side, it follows its sheriff, the now-reformed Big Bad Wolf, as he investigates the murder of Snow White’s party-girl sister. (The prime suspect: Jack, her current live-in boyfriend and former beanstalk climber. No, really.)
Yes, really.
Fables might sound a bit silly but believe me, it's one of the best non super hero related comics you will come across. As for
The Stand, it's an incredible read. We already had a pretty good miniseries adap back in the early 90's but WB plan on turning King's huge novel into a trilogy. Yates would know a thing or two about consistently good follow on movies anyway. I think he is a good choice for either, assuming he doesn't go for
Cicero of course, but I really hope
Fables draws his interest. How about you guys?
