UPDATE: Could This Be The Official Title For STAR TREK Sequel?
While it's somewhat odd-sounding, this new rumor suggests that we may finally have the official title for the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek sequel. More after the jump...
Tomorrow is the 46th anniversary of Star Trek: The Original Series, and with that, many are expecting some official new info for the upcoming J.J. Abrams-helmed sequel, set to be released on May 17, 2013. The film still doesn't have a title, but that could change soon. According to Coming Soon, Paramount Pictures have registered two domains: www.startrekintodarkness.com and www.startrekintodarknessmovie. More below:
"We've been been told that the 2013 J.J. Abrams sequel has chosen a title and will hit theaters as Star Trek Into Darkness. Although we have not yet been able to officially confirm said title, the domain names were both registered yesterday through Markmonitor, an anonymous domain registry service that just so happens to have been utilized by Paramount Pictures for recent URLs like their official G.I. Joe: Retaliation site.".
Again, nothing is confirmed, so stay tuned.
UPDATE: TrekMovie.com says that this is indeed a title for the new Star Trek film:
"TrekMovie has confirmed with multiple sources that Star Trek Into Darkness" has been selected as the title for the Star Trek movie. As noted in our earlier article, the title does not include a colon, like were used for the Next Generation films such as "Star Trek: First Contact" or "Star Trek: Nemesis."
Cast: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood and Peter Weller.
