JIU JITSU: Nicholas Cage Battles Martial Arts Warriors From Space In Fun First Trailer

"There's no honor in killing crazy."

Well, Nicholas Cage should be fine then. The first trailer for Jiu Jitsu is now online, and it teases a ridiculously entertaining (entertainingly ridiculous?) sci-fi action adventure.

Cage (Mandy, Ghost Rider) stars as a veteran warrior tasked with training Earth's chosen defenders to do battle with an alien who drops in every six years looking for a fight. If he doesn't get it, he wipes out everyone on the planet... or something.

Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and martial arts legend Tony Jaa (Monster Hunter) also star, so there is some talent in front of the camera.

An ancient order of expert Jiu Jitsu fighters faces a vicious race of alien invaders in a battle for Earth every 6 years; When Earth's hero Jake Barnes is defeated by the leader of the invaders, the future of humanity hangs in the balance.

It's probably safe to say this won't be winning any awards, but it's clearly not taking itself very seriously, and might be worth a watch when it hits VOD on November 20th.

What do you guys make of the first trailer for Jiu Jitsu? Let us know in the comments.

As a hardcore Jiu Jitsu practitioner, sees the title and gets excited about a film starting Nicholas Cage, finally a film that shows off this beautiful art:

Then watches the trailer:

I'm not a martial arts expert, but i'm pretty sure there's zero Jiu Jitsu in this movie titled Jiu Jitsu.

Also, Tony Jaa needs a better agent.

@HeeroG - Tony Jaa is awesome. Why he hasn't become the modern Jakie Chan is quite beyond me.

@aresww3 - makes me wanna watch Rumble, Mr Nice Guy, Who Am I, man he had some good ones, but when I think of Shanghai noon and Rush Hour I realize why Tony ain’t today’s Jackie Chan: there’s only one Jackie Chan. He has a goofy charisma and charm that was easily Hollywood material.

Side note when I watched the Tuxedo in theaters, there were boom mikes in the whole movie, and at the end him and JLH stepped out of a swat team van or something and you could see guys on the roof opening the doors so it could look automatic. Some kind of super rough cut. Still. My jaw was like

@Matador @TheWalkingCuban - lol Never seen that movie. Really? - Well I wasn't being so literal. I just mean the big martial arts star in Hollywood.

The fact he's so different from what we've seen, I thought he'd be much more of a major star by now.

Ong Bak was awesome and The Protector.

Rush hour is a [frick]ing classic though.

@aresww3 - people don’t get into martial arts movies like they used to.

But yeah that Tuxedo viewing was surreal lol

@TheWalkingCuban - i thought it was in for an revival. there's alot of nostalgia led resurgences in genres, which is why ong bak was such an international smash hit.

Yeah maybe nick shouldn't be in this. At least not as a martial artist. What we saw of him in comparison to the other fighters was pitiful.

"Why was I in this movie? because It has all the essential Ingredients of a nicholas cage movie. Jui Jitsu, A first draft script, Asians I thought were serving lunch but turned out to be my costars and racism. Hash Tag and that's the real meaning of Black Lives do Matter"

Whenever these martial arts films try to go sci-fi it just never works.

But, I think if this movie doesn't take itself seriously at all it could actually work.
