DEADPOOL's Ed Skrein Signs On For James Cameron's ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL
Deadpool baddie Francis Ed Skrein has joined the ever-growing cast of James Cameron & Robert Rodriguez's upcoming adaptation of the acclaimed manga, Alita: Battle Angel. Come take a look!
The Hollywood Reporter learned yesterday that Ed Skrein has signed on for a major role in 20th Century Fox's highly ambitious adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's popular manga series, Alita: Battle Angel. 3x Academy Award-winner James Cameron (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) & long-time collaborator Jon Landau will produce the project with Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) in the director's chair.
The story takes place in the 26th century and picks up shortly after a scientist discovers a female cyborg in a scrapyard with no memories of her past, save for her lethal marital-arts training. She then uses this knowledge to become a bounty hunter and track down the worst of the worst. Skrein will portray one of her potential targets, a villainous cyborg named Zapan, who is in possession of a weapon known as the Damascus blade.
Skrein is best known to audiences for his role as Ajax in the Tim Miller-directed blockbuster Deadpool, the rebooted Frank Martin in The Transporter Refueled, and as the original Daario Naharis in HBO's hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones.
He joins a cast headlined by up-and-comer Rosa Salazar (Maze Runner: The Death Cure) and also features Christoph Waltz (Spectre) & Jackie Earl Haley (Preacher). Production is expected to kick off this October in Austin.
