JURASSIC PARK 4 Reportedly Set To Be Released In 2015

Universal recently pushed the fourth Jurassic Park installment from its original June 2014 release date, and now we have word that the film may end up being a (likely summer) 2015 release instead.

Last month, it was announced by Universal that Jurassic Park 4 will no longer be released on June 13th, 2014. Director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) is attached to helm the fourquel, and is currently rewriting the script. The most recent draft was said to be too epic/ambitious to have filming by this month for a theatrical release next summer, so Universal decided to give Trevorrow and company more time to properly develop the project. Since then, no word on when it will be released has surfaced until now. A "solid source" tells Den Of Geek that Jurassic Park 4 will officially be released in 2015 (despite some speculation surrounding a late 2014 debut). No specific release date has been named, but it will most likely debut in the summer. If true, the film will be one of many blockbusters set for that year - The Avengers 2, Star Wars: Episode VII, Pirates Of The Caribbean 5, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, Finding Dory, Fantastic Four, Assassin's Creed, Ant-Man, Kung Fu Panda 3 and many more major productions are expected to be released then. Hopefully, Jurassic Park 4 will be able to stand out amidst heavy competition if it's indeed scheduled for that year. What do you think?

This is probably for the best. I never could see the film making it on time for a 2014 release.

The same summer with The Avengers 2 & Star Wars Episode 7?? Cool!

I'll be shocked if they release it in 2015, far too much competition in the Summer that year imo.

It was a blast to see that flick 20 years ago when visualizing realistic dinosaurs on screen was a novel thing. But, at this point, people have seen hundreds of dinosaurs on screen (and on TV0 and the novelty has worn off. Plus, we are getting Godzilla and Pacific Rim, so the scale of another dino flick will not be a big deal. Not interested...

With Avengers 2 & Star Wars in the same summer it doesn't stand a chance, move that date.

2015 is crazy. Some of those blockbusters will under perform in the box office.

Avengers 2 and (likely) Star Wars are set for May while Pirates 5 is set for July. There is plenty of room for other event movies to stake a claim that summer.

June has no massive event films on the slate yet. WB oould claim one for MOS 2 or lock down a late July date to stay clear of Avengers 2 and Star Wars. Jurassic will do just fine if it get a mid June date about 3 weeks after Star Wars comes out. I think Paramount is gonna release Terminator 5 at the end of June or for July 4th weekend. Add in FOX's Assassins Creed in May and I bet they move Fantastic Four to the summer (mid June) to take advantage if WB releases MOS 2 in July.

@Reasonnn

Whom of those will underperform?

Star Wars and Avengers will have their 1.5 billion each, no doubt. If DC decides to go for something big at summer 2015 it's probably gonna earn the least in box office.

For the record, I'm a DC fan (no hatin').

I'm fine with it, there's no way they could have met that earlier release date if there's no cast members yet.

And I know this sounds absurd, but this movie is at the top of my list of anticipated films. The main reason is just because this franchise has been a close part of me for many years.

@Luke91 If I were a betting man, I would say Fassbender's Assassin's Creed, Fantastic Four and Pirates 5. Under perform relative to the budget (+ marketing) of the films.

I would love to see the summer movies start a little early then normal so an April release of Jurassic Park IV would be cool. Another good time to bring a movie out would be August. JP4 would have the theaters to them self seeing as many movies don't come out then.

@Shamo:
That's not too bad an idea, considering the robots for the TF movies already have a BEAST WARS look to their design...
