The director of "360" Fernando Meirelles gave several interviews about how to produce a movie in USA and also spoke about the problems that his friend Jose Padilha is having with his first big international project - RoboCop.
Here is what he said:
"Recently I talked to José Padilha by phone. He will begin filming Robocop. He is saying that it is the worst experience. For every 10 ideas he has, 9 are cut. Whatever he wants, he has to fight. 'This is hell here, "he told me. 'The film will be good, but I never suffered so much and do not want to do it again.' He is bitter, but he is a fighter "
The relations between a director and the studio are very important. Very often such problems causes the movie to fail big. And let's face it - this movie has a chance to be something different only if they give Jose the freedom to do what he knows best. Hopefully we don't get another Total Recall-esque remake.
