Star Trek to Thor: J.J. Abrams on Chris Hemsworth

The Star Trek director has shared his views on working with Chris Hemsworth and where he thinks the actors future is headed!

"It’s very exciting. We really lucked out," Abrams told MTV News. "He’s so crazy handsome and he’s so strapping with the classic leading man look. I sort of wish I had dirtied him up a little bit, messed his hair up a little bit."

"The guy’s hair up until the last moment is sort of perfect. In retrospect I look at that and am like a little smudge or a hair out of place would have been a good thing," he said. "The guy is a sweetheart and terrific actor."

According to Abrams, the last time he had a chance to chat with Hemsworth was prior to his 'Thor' announcement, but he knew the actor was always destined for big things.

"Hemsworth was in a moment where he was trying to figure out what his next thing was going to be and he stayed strong in terms of what his commitments were to various projects. I knew that he was going to be given a lot of opportunities sooner or later and I was hoping it would be off of Trek," said Abrams.

And it seems that the director couldnt be any closer to the truth as Chris Hemsworth is set to star in 2011's 'Thor' and 2012's 'The Avengers'!

Why the hell is he talking about how handsome he is and dirtieing his hair up! lol, my God, give us some insight into the mans acting style or something. If it was a chick he was talking about this would be sleazy, as it stands its just a bit creepy imo

I saw him in a movie called Perfect Getaway. It was a shit movie and he had a small part, but he is an imposing physical presence anyway..now don't get too exited by that sentence JJ!

Talontd@ it would have been cool if Hemsworth would

I always prefered him over Skarsgard, Skarsgard alwasy looked too small to play Thor to me. Hemsworth is actually pretty big.

these movies lose something if the hero doesn't wear something that is at least close to the original costume. You end up with the X-Suits....ech.

BTW who did this guy play in Trek?

Joker1zero - 10/25/2009, 9:20 AM
BubbaDude: He was Captain Kirk's father and died in the first 5 minutes of the movie.

Sounds like Abrams is gay fro Hemsworth hahaha

I'm sorry, he's a good lookin' guy and all, but how could they choose a Thor who is not a huge guy? Thor's always been one of my favorite characters, and I'd love to see a very muscular guy portray the God of Thunder. He's got to kick some major ass and fill out the armor. Who wants a 200 pounder weilding Mjolnir??

agreed...hope he's hittin the weights hard!

You guys are right: it's never too late to kick him out and replace him with the Undertaker, or maybe Kane, or that amateur dude who was advocating for Thor through someone on this website several months ago.

I wanted Skaarsgard but I think this guy will do a fine job. Look at the people who are coaching him and working with him. He'll be fine...as long as Branagh doesn't feed him the sort of ridiculous dialogue that Hayden what's-his-name had to spout in the Star Wars prequels. And Branagh isn't Lucas. But then, poor Hayden was a crap actor..

You know, it could go either way. It's all so confusing and worrying.

Please, please, don't let 'Thor' suck.
