UPDATE: Wiliam Shatner Does NOT Confirm STAR TREK 3 Role

Within the past hour, William Shatner ("T.J. Hooker") tweeted what appears to be confirmation of a role in Roberto Orci's Star Trek 3. The message: "I'm baaaaccckk!!!"

Last month, Devin Faraci from Badass Digest got Trekkies all over the globe and in outer space super-excited when he reported that Star Trek 3 director Roberto Orci was planning to include William Shatner, the original James Tiberius Kirk. Then Shatner confirmed that talks have taken place and earlier this evening he tweeted:

Shatner hasn't appeared in a Star Trek film since 2002's Star Trek: Generations. That's because the baton passed onto Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his crew. And him being killed off probably also didn't help. Shatner's Star Trek 3 role is said to be pivotal to the film and he will share screen time with Leonard Nimoy as well as the new Kirk and Spock, Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. Set phasers to fan-service.

Update: Mr. Shatner is denying that the "I'm back" tweet had anything to do with Star Trek 3. The confusion stems from him wanting to announce that he is back in the Los Angeles area. With the current rumor getting some new life today you can understand why many journalists jumped the gun on his tweet. By the way, I hope while he is in L.A. he gets a great deal on a hotel room. I know of a site that could help him with that, but the name keeps slipping my mind.

So it's gone "No, no, I'm not involved in Start Trek 3" then "Well, maybe, could be fun to be with Nemoy again in Star Trek" to this.
Very quickly it happened too.

This to me is disappointing news. Well I guess Spock somehow brought Kirk to this new universe too.

2002's Star Trek Generations? I thought Generations was in 1994 and Nemesis was in 2002

Yeah this tweet was about him coming back to L.A why don't you look into things before you make a story from nothing. Terrible journalism

You might want to change the article headline or the tag. It still seems a little misleading.

@MrCBM56 Idk man, it seems very unprofessional for anyone to make click bait articles based off of a two word tweet. Then again, that's what most guys on big Movie-News sites have reduced themselves to.

@yingyangpalms

If you think Shatner was unnecessarily rough on Superhero Hype then what do you think about Sam Jackson trying to bury the guy who called him Lawrence Fishburn?

Superhero Hype had no business making a whole damn story out of 2 words. They deserved to be Shatted!
========================================================================

I agree. And yeah, Sam really killed that guy. "I'm not gonna hear the end of this, am I?" He said. LMFAO!

So an overly excited fan of Shatner geeks out and jumps the gun a little, thinking The Shat is confirming he'll be in ST3 (which would be big big news), and The Shat goes ballistic and accuses him of yellow journalism (showing his age here btw)? Thats way out of line. Its not like the journo is accusing him of child molesting for gods sake. Chill the hell out bloated one. Take more extra strength Geritol for your constipation because its making you a mean SOB.
