Film Buff asked Williams outright if he would be reprising the role of Lando Calrissian for J.J. Abrams' new Star Wars flick while attending the Monster Mania Convention. The actor's response was short and sweet, but he says he has been asked to play the charming former smuggler again, and is still thinking about it. As the site points out, Williams will be turning 76 soon and his decision may be based on whether he feels up to what is bound to be a pretty intense shoot or not. I had the pleasure of meeting the actor myself last year and he definitely appears more than capable to me! Still, there is a chance these new Star Wars movies may be Lando-less, and that's a real shame. Would you guys be disappointed if Williams declines the offer? Sound off in the usual place.

I don't understand why people think bringing back the original cast is a good thing. They're old and fat now. This is just going to be sad, not nostalgic.

Noone is saying that the original players should be front and center. Makes no sense to do that. but think about how many older characters were running around in the original trilogy: Grand Moff Tarkin, Obi Wan Kenobi, Uncle Owen, That old beaarded dude on Yavin 4, Mon Mothma, Yoda (800 years old!), Palpatine, etc etc. It ain't like Obi Wan was doing back flips and what not. All we're saying is that it'd be cool to see those characters who were young in the original series playing those older characters in the new one. And I'm sure those that need it will be placed in some kind of physical training regiment.

I really hope that Leah ditched Han for Lando, or that Leah and Han have 2 kids, one of whom is black. Stir sh!t up, let's get cray cray, after all this is the highest grossing incest trilogy of all time!

I don't know about the return of these old actors. If they're using the same characters I would prefer the same actors, but I don't know that we need to see old Han or old Lando. Old Luke works as a Jedi Master, but Han and Lando were charming rouges. To see them as old dudes....

All of the old school cats will likely have very small roles,except for maybe Ford. I don't see any big deal about having them back. I think it will be great to see what's become of everyone. I wouldn't be surprised if Lando was a prime minister or senator.

Lando to return is a must. It's not like he did action scenes is the first trilogy, just running around a bit an flying the falcon.

This time it would make more sense to have him be a senator or still leader of his mining colony.

I think having him in the beginning of movie and give him a worthy death that would give some emotional punch to the first act which causes luke and his son, Ben and the solo kids to go search out the dark Jedi. He's def a fan favorite and showing him loved and revered as a top leader in the republic who dies for the cause would create a grave situation that would cause the Jedi to be involved.

Also for those people who said billy d hasn't acted in a while, he was just on modern family and looked pretty good for 75 yr old. It was only one episode but I could def see lando having a leader type role who is killed in order to create discord an ultimately involve his best friends to avenge him.

@ Versatol, I agree totally!! I wonder if we will see Cloud City? I personally want to see Ord Mandel, and other planets only talked about. I do want to see Yavin IV though. I see Han Solo, Lando, and Leia dying in the Millennium Falcon, perhaps sabotaged by someone to blow them up. I only see Luke carrying on into the next 2 films, as well as the Solo and Skywalker offspring.

Met him at Wizard-Con in Atlanta a couple of years ago. He was an extremely classy guy. I hope they bring him back but if they don't I won't be too devastated. He hasn't been around much in the novels of late.
