Michael B. Jordan Talks FANTASTIC FOUR And Confirms STAR WARS EPISODE VII Audition

Chronicle star Michael B. Jordan confirms a number of rumours surrounding him, saying he's "definitely interested" in playing 'The Human Torch' in The Fantastic Four and confirms that he has indeed auditioned for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII...without a lightsaber!

"You win Sundance, you pop up on a lot of peoples' radar. So it's been incredible. It's a different conversation. Studios, producers, writers, directors — getting to know a lot of people in the industry," Michael B. Jordan said in an interview with The Huffington Post at People magazine's "Ones To Watch" party yesterday. The actor is also said to be a lock for Josh Trank's The Fantastic Four reboot as 'Johnny Storm'/'Human Torch', but when quizzed about the movie, he would only say: "Definitely interested in the project. Josh Trank is a buddy of mine."

The Chronicle star also said he's a "big fan" of Roland Emmerich's 1996 Independence Day, adding that if his rumoured involvement, "came true, that would be cool, too." Finally, Jordan confirmed that he has indeed auditioned for the J.J. Abrams helmed Star Wars Episode VII. However, unlike Saoirse Ronan, he didn't wield a lightsaber! "I mean, everybody's going in on this project. They're trying to figure out what they want. That's another incredible franchise. It's pretty crazy! ... We'll see how it happens. I don't know how I can do everything."

Great, now we'll have another Foxy Four.

Seriously I don't have a problem with this guy being Johnny Storm or Josh Trank directing. I just have a problem with Fox.

Say what you want about Iron Man, but Marvel made Iron Man an A lister whereas X-men used to be the popular, but now Iron Man is easily more recognizable than the X-men to the general audience.

Or the Fantastic Four. I'd say that their popularity has died since the films.

If he is Lando's son, I can see why he won't have a Lightsaber, all he needs is:

Shit works every time!

What is with Hollywood wanting to cast people that don't make sense for the films. You have the film called Gods of Egypt with a white cast and you have Fantastic Four going with a black cast. I think Michael B. Jordan is a great actor and has a great future for him. But I see him more as Aqualad then the Human Torch.

Why are people on here acting like they're turning the entire cast black? lol Besides Sue being white what difference will it honestly make?? If he's adopted so what if it's his biological sister who's to say Sue won't be mixed in the movie? Just give it a chance, Johnny Storm's ethnicity has nothing to deal with his character and Michael B. Jordan totally has the character to match him if you've ever seen Chronicle you'd know that.

Just give it a chance sheesh!!!

I don't mind him in either franchise. Its just sometimes I get the feeling he overacts in his roles. It would be nice if he toned it down

If they cast him as Johnny Storm, I hope they cast a black woman as Sue Storm. It would be nice to see an interracial family in a Marvel movie.

"Just give it a chance, Johnny Storm's ethnicity has nothing to deal with his character and Michael B. Jordan totally has the character to match him if you've ever seen Chronicle you'd know that"....Really????....try and reboot Blade with a white guy...why not make a bio-pic about Mohammed Ali and cast Ryan Reynolds...this is where I have to say the obligatory, "I am not racist", and believe me I am not....but I am against changing someones color just for the hell of it or for shock value, be it white to black or black to white...changing Johnny from white to black adds nothing to the character, hence, the change would be unnecessary...it would just be the typical over used politically correct card....people say, "what difference will it make?"...and to be honest, none...except for not (as usual) staying true to the source material...How many people here would be pissed if they did the unthinkable and had cast the role of Falcon with Bradley Cooper?...It always seems to be totally acceptable to switch white for black, but if it were the other way around, everyone involved would now be considered a racist.

I don't see how this is going to work. Talk about standing out like a sore thumb! Could we find a more opposite type of cast? To think I was annoyed with the last torch not having blonde hair. Okay, so I'm guessing Johnny is either going to be a half or step brother now. I can deal! What am not sure I can deal with is if they go as they seem the ultimate route.

#1.) You're trying to twist my words around and make it sound as there's as many as black characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as there are white and that is totally distorted.

#2.) You know dag on well a white Mohammed Ali film would be totally biased because his ethnicity had to deal with the crises he was facing against Caucasian citizens during times of discriminatory "racism" in the U.S. so that was a complete BS example! lol

#3.) If Blade was white I really wouldn't care because his race has nothing to deal with it. If the Punisher was black that would be alright with me too...lol Sh** if they want to switch things around and keep the characteristics background story the same it's totally cool with me.

#4.) "It always seems to be totally acceptable to switch white for black, but if it were the other way around, everyone involved would now be considered a racist."

Lol, mannn I gotta give it to you that would be pretty f'd up. But then again most of the black characters in the marvel cinematic universe have been given the most crappiest roles lately it really wouldn't even make a difference by now if they did do something like that.

The only characters we have to look forward to are Storm and Falcon. Oh yeah don't forget Black Panther (who's been in development for how long??) I'm not even concerned with just black heroes it's all ethnicity groups that deserve more screen time so I do stand by my statement with having Mr.Jordan play Human Torch.

Nova2012 hit it on the head.

Being 'black' in this world is WAY more than how dark your skin is. LIFE itself is very different for the average black person than it is for the average white person. And its a safe bet that a Fantastic Four movie won't adequately address those differences to justify the drastic change, then its pretty clear that the change is being done "just because". Or because Josh and Jordan are 'buddies'.

And THAT is wrong.
