Peter Parker and Eddie Brock never ended up crossing paths in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it sounds like a clash could happen in the not-too-distant future. Find everything we know so far right here...

Venom is once again on everyone's lips after the release of Insomniac Games' Spider-Man 2. The video game delivers a very different take on the Lethal Protector, albeit one which feels like it respects the character's comic book roots.

The same can't really be said for the Venom movies. While they both have their moments (the sequel was a huge improvement over its predecessor), the wacky direction Eddie Brock and his Symbiote have been taken in just doesn't quite sit right with most fans.

Still, when Venom: Let There Be Carnage ended with Eddie stranded on the MCU's Earth-616, we all started getting excited about the prospect of him clashing with Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

Instead, Venom was relegated to Spider-Man: No Way Home's post-credits scene, with the stringer revealing he'd remained in Mexico and, upon being sent home, that a piece of his Symbiote was left behind. According to a new rumour, though, the plan is for Hardy and Holland's respective web-slingers to cross paths "sooner than you think."

The claim was dropped by reliable online scooper @MyTimeToShineH, though no additional context was offered.

We don't think this fight will happen in Venom 3 because production was underway before the Hollywood strikes and, around the same time, Holland was said to be still on the fence about signing a new deal with Marvel Studios. Having his Spidey suddenly show up in this threequel would be a perplexing and rushed move on Sony's part and not one we can imagine Holland being on board with.

However, with Spider-Man 4 on the horizon, Daredevil: Born Again undergoing a creative reshuffle, and Peter Parker said to be a lead character in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, could that movie now revolve around the hero getting his alien suit?

It's possible Venom will somehow return to Earth-616 or that an Eddie Variant is introduced who gets to the alien before Peter does. It's tough to figure out what Marvel Studios might be planning, though we'd caution taking this claim with a pinch of salt for the time being, anyway.

Spider-Man 4 doesn't currently have a confirmed release date but Venom 3 is said to be heading our way on July 12, 2024.

Having Spider-Man characters work without Spider-Man still bewilders me.

Hardy would have been an amazing Wolverine cast.
HashTagSwagg - 10/25/2023, 6:57 AM
@TheDpool - I thought so too at first but films like Joker and the first Venom showed that giving the villains the solo spot light can work.
Vigor - 10/25/2023, 7:59 AM
@HashTagSwagg - not under Sony
HashTagSwagg - 10/25/2023, 8:02 AM
@Vigor - Venom was under Sony, say what you want about about it and that awful sequel but it's getting a third supposed solo film. I'd say it can work.
Vigor - 10/25/2023, 8:06 AM
@HashTagSwagg - I know it's under Sony. Hence my comment
I don't think any of the venom movies worked despite people flocking to see it
TheDpool - 10/25/2023, 8:14 AM
@HashTagSwagg - The Jokers origin can be told without Batman. Venom is Venom because of his early attachment to Spider-Man.

Kraven the Hunter, Morbius, they work because of Spider-Man.
HashTagSwagg - 10/25/2023, 8:23 AM
@TheDpool - As cool as it would be to see Venom fight Tobey or Garfield or Morbius, he's doing fine on his own so far. Morbius didn't need Spider-man to tell his story nor was it that movie's problem. Kraven (The OG Black Panther) isn't out yet so it's a bit hard to judge just yet. Before that Joker film, everyone was saying you can't have the Joker without the Batman, after that movie came out they said the ties to Batman where among it's weakest elements of the film.

Tom Harry's performance is so cringe as Venom
MarvelZombie616 - 10/25/2023, 6:40 AM
No way this happens in Venom 3, which will have to move from it's july 14th 2024 date to later that year.

The earliest possibility would be Spiderman 4, which is scheduled to start filming in late 2024.
That movie could be in cinemas earliest in late 2025, more likely in may 2026.

Maybe Fantastic Four has a cameo from Spiderman and Venom, but i doubt it.

The next possibility is Avenger 5, which is scheduled for may 1st 2026, but won't make that date.

"The movies did him better"

What a joke

Fan art, another [frick]ing rumor... slow day, huh? Jesus christ this website is dead
valmic - 10/25/2023, 6:50 AM
Venom doesn’t even feel like venom in these movies. He’s so much of a good guy now it doesn’t make sense to make him a villain and fight Spider-Man for whatever reason. It’s crazy that Raimis Venom is more accurate.
Origame - 10/25/2023, 7:04 AM
Yeah, anyone who thinks venom is too goofy hasn't read the 90s comics that were used as direct inspiration. Outside of specifically tying his origin with spiderman (which he isn't relevant to the lethal protector storyline anyway), it's very accurate. They even take lines and moments directly from the comics.

Ffs, those comics had venom swinging through the city with a sack full of chocolate singing his theme song.

Having finished the game, I can tell you that despite Insomniac not even using Eddie Brock, to say the movies did Venom better - well, you might as well just say that Let there Be Carnage should’ve been nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. Because that’s just as much of a bullshit statement as that.
SirDuckAlot - 10/25/2023, 7:23 AM
Bring in Jared Leto's Moribus and I'll see it.

"The claim was dropped by reliable online scooper @MyTimeToShineH, though no additional context was offered" do you see the irony mister clown?
Blergh - 10/25/2023, 9:26 AM
But why?
Just add a new Venom for the MCU, same popularity for less effort.

Maybe even add the current Venom verse into the Amazing Spider-Man universe and have Hardy fight Andrew Garfield.
These franchises fit together better than the way they do with the McU
HulkisHoly - 10/25/2023, 9:53 AM
Venom 3 should be Garfield Spider-Man vs Venom.

Spider-Man 4 should be Holland and DD vs Kingpin and Gargan.
bkmeijer1 - 10/25/2023, 1:56 PM
@HulkisHoly - I agree. The Venom/Morbius/Kraven all have a tone that fits the TASM universe better. And I think Hardy and Garfield could have better chemistry than Hardy and Holland
HulkisHoly - 10/25/2023, 3:16 PM
@bkmeijer1 -

Yep yep yep.

Garfield and Hardy would play off each other well.
WeaponXCII - 10/25/2023, 11:01 AM
“Sooner than you think” means nothing. These clickbaiting “leakers”….
PC04 - 10/25/2023, 12:51 PM
hey. shut the [frick] up with these rumors.
bkmeijer1 - 10/25/2023, 1:59 PM
Yeah, no. I just don't put any stock in what these "leakers" say.

Only cross-over I wanna see is MCU Peter Parker finding that blob of Venom in Secret Wars. Sony Venom can join the TASM universe instead.
