Much to what we're sure is Warner Bros.' relief, the furore surrounding the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse movement does appear to have died down a little in recent months. Zack Snyder has moved on to a number of projects for Netflix, and regardless of how good the Snyder Cut of Justice League was, it's clear the studio has no plans to revisit that particular iteration of the franchise.
We also thought filmmaker David Ayer was done teasing his "Ayer Cut" of 2016's Suicide Squad, but he's again shared a never before seen photo from the DC Comics adaptation.
This time, we get what was clearly an earlier version of Jared Leto's Joker tattoos. With eyebrows made up of "HaHaHaHa", he also has an exaggerated smile similar to his comic book counterpart thanks to more body art we're sure would have been divisive among fans.
However, we're sure many of you will be pleased to see the "Damaged" tattoo is nowhere to be seen!
While it's certainly interesting to get a new behind the scenes look at Suicide Squad, it's been five years since the movie came out and a semi-reboot hit theaters and HBO Max earlier this year. As a result, we're not entirely sure what Ayer is going for, but #ReleaseTheAyerCut fans will likely appreciate it.
Leto reprised the role of The Joker in Zack Snyder's Justice League, but will make the leap to the Marvel Universe for Morbius on January 28, 2022.
