How do you want the new Superman suit to look in Zach Synder's " Man of Steel "?

If you had the power to create the new look for Superman's costume for the new film, how would it look?

With the new Superman film, "Man of Steel" going into production during the summer, many of us are wondering how much muscle will Henry Cavill put on to don the famous red, yellow and blue costume and how that costume would appear on the big screen. Well with recent pics of Cavill shown putting on the muscle for this iconic role, now it's time for us to wonder how the design of the new suit will look for this new age. I prefer the new suit to look at least a little like Superman : Earth One

I think that the book got the rules of keeping his suit traditional while at the same time making it look more realistic and comtemporary. I know alot of you would want the suit to look more alien, tactical like battle armor or even without the cape and trunks. All right guys, what are your thoughts on how the suit should look like?

earth one is a good step for it. People say it needs changed but its easy to say that until you realize most if not all other ideas people have are ridiculous and would never be accepted. Look at the SR suit, did not stray too far at all and made some, what I consider, good updates whilst keeping the original look. A lot of people out there hate everything that was changed.

But if they did change it i would want something like the 'ultimate superman' that Wizard came up with.

the suit shouldn't be changed at all.

every time the Superman suit has been changed, its failed horribly, and there is a reason for that. some character's costumes are just too iconic.

I'd do away with the pants. I did an article on here about some fan art i drew depicting a new suit but they were me t with less than positive feedback. lol I think the area has to have some red but i just cant understand why 1. he has pants that he has clearly pulled up over his tights and 2. what is the belt for?

I'd say keep the classic design, but update similar to Earth One, so it looks more modern but keeps the same parts.
The pants should remain, but be updated (more like the Superman Returns version than the version from earlier costumes). The logo should be the same, and should cover most of the chest (but not go too far down the torso, just slightly below the chest). Also, it shouldnt look like its simply sewn on, I prefered the Returns logo's 3D effect to the sewn on look from Chris Reeves/Dean Caine's suits, maybe a subtler 3D effect would be ok.

The important part is the colours. My biggest problem with the returns suit was the colour combo, the new suit should have the red parts be crimson red, and the suit should be a darker blue, so he looks more majestic and less spandex clad. Also, the suit should enhance his physique, maybe through muscle shading or something. And the cape HAS to have an inversed yellow logo on the back, in the same shade as the interior of the front logo and the belt. Also, the belt should basically be the Earth One belt, no logo buckle, just an oval.

@Gaston why would they spend a lot of money making two suits for a film to introduce the concept to fans and then adapt it to the comics, when they could simply draw it in the comics first, then put it in a film in the future. That suit actually doesnt look bad, but it still doesn't have the same feel as the classic suit.

If they go with the classic design then I agree Earth One is the way to but enlarge the S symbol. But I think the pants do look a little goofy. If they were to update it then I would like either the one Gaston suggested:

or this design, credit to whoever made it:

Also the Earth One costume:

@Gaston- Agreed, that is one of the best and most modern designs. And it would kind of fit well with the direction of the new movie. That suit design looks more...alien...more COSMIC. And since this movie might just be more cosmic, I'd def go with that design.

Although I was not a fan of Dean Cain, that is the more accurate suit. Larger symbol, true colors (NOT evil Superman 3/Returns colors). It is as iconic as it gets. If they treat it like Singer did, I may never watch another DC movie again.

Classic definitely.

Or at least not much changed to it.

The one @Gaston has is good, i like it, just lose the blue collar and it's great. The trunks, i could go either way. But i do like earth one's suit. The yellow outline of the shield is pretty cool. Just none of that 3d crap like Superman Returns.

I think earth one is the way to go, on the other I dont like the s that big with the red cape covering the shoulders, really really hope it dosent cover the shoulders that way

@JDUKE- You said pretty much everything the same way I view the suit for the upcoming film! Good stuff dude.
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 5/3/2011, 7:54 PM
@LP4 thanks. Yeah I'm pretty much open to any design as long as it's not absolutely ridiculous looking or changed dramatically. And the shield better be freakin huge!!!! lol Anything would be bigger than that puny shield in SR. That's an embarrassment, especially when you compare it to the size of any other suit, live-action or comic.

@JDUKE- Yep, I hear ya buddy! The S-Shield was waaay too tiny in SR. Hopefully they fix it in this new film!

This is what I imagine with that pic @Gaston had.
Without the blue collar.

Superman HAS to have the blue body, red boots, red trunks, and a red cape. The red trunks in particular are derived from the strong man at the circus from the old days--they're part of who Superman is.

I LOVE the Jahozafat picture--it's different yet it keeps the classic elements...

id say something like the Lee Bermejo design but to look like that suit it would have to be made out of the same material as the promo pic of the ww tv suit or possible leather, but that or the earth one suits or do classic suit but experiment with other materials.

it's going to be new and very different then the other movie suits because this's going to be a new version. That's why they wouldn't make a classic suit and at the same time director says that they going to make it realistic as much as possible ( but it's a superman movie :) ) like new batman movies. That's why they couldn't make futuristic and hugely different suit. because that suit looks weird in that kinds of tone. with this information i think it'll be earth one suit with a few changes.

I really like the one Gaston posted as well as the design created in Flyboys. It looks futuristic, almost alien without losing the classic Superman look. No red underpants PLEASE!
