As Stephen Amell and the cast of Arrow bid farewell to San Diego Comic-Con, they were joined on stage by none other than Brandon Routh (DC's Legends of Tomorrow), who had a pretty exciting piece of news to share with the DC TV faithful in Ballroom 20.

After being confirmed to reprise his role as Superman in the upcoming "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover yesterday, Routh took the stage to share with the audience that he wouldn't be able to use his original costume from the 2006 movie and then, unzipped his hoodie to reveal the Kingdom Come Superman logo.

So, yes, Brandon Routh will be playing Superman again, presumably the same iteration he played before, albeit with a Kingdom Come twist, which makes the crossover even more anticipated as it'll be a version of the Man of Steel we have never seen realized in live-action till now.

@NicolausCopernicus - I guess they were willing to loan it to Smallville for an episode but not to the Arrowverse? Strange...

Nice!

He’s always looked like Superman. Something about how he handles himself and the face. There’s an intrinsic wholesomeness to him that’s just—-SUPERMAN

@BlackBeltJones - He is Superman, no doubt. He just utterly failed as Clark Kent.

@BlackBeltJones - that costume was PERFECT.

@KnifeWasTooSlow - He was great as Superman .....but the costume was fvkin HORRENDOUS !! Has gotten even worse with age. I won't make a list of all the things wrong with the "Returns-suit" but boy....I hated it then and I hate it now....sorry.

Brandon Routh really deserved to be in a better Superman film. He has that earnest quality about him that is just pure Supes. Something Cavill does not have. Too much of strong and silent, stud type.

@Spidey91 - for this event you really just need the latest crisis event. Though earth x was ridiculous (evil nazi doppelgangers)

@Origame - ohh, I love evil nazi doppelganger storylines.

Brandon Routh Will Play KINGDOM COME SUPERMAN

That's definitely choice version. Few better variants. Congratulations to the man.

Bring back Tom Welling and Dean Cain, dammit!!

I know Tom Welling doesn't want to wear the suit, but they could easily get around this by giving him the New 52 look:

@Darkknight2149 - you could even just have him caught without his suit when the monitor gets him. Sure, itd suck not seeing him in the suit, but at least he'd be there. And that would better represent the show he was in.

@Origame -
Personally, it would best if they just had him wear blue jeans and a Superman T-shirt (like in the New 52) or just have him in his blur costume from Smallville:

It's better than having no Tom Welling, and Tom Welling does not want to put on the tights for some reason.

@Darkknight2149 - it actually makes sense. Once he puts on the suit he's forever associated as superman. That can and has effected other actors careers. That and the superman curse

This feels like complete fan-service and in the wrong way, like how they keep finding excuses to bring back John Wesley-Shipp just because they like the guy.

I know some people will say "it is fan-service... and I love it", but that doesn't exactly excuse it.

@Kurne - its a multidimensional story based on another multidimensional story that did the same thing but bigger. I really dont see the problem here.
