Kevin Eastman On NINJA TURLES; Claims It's "Easily The Best Turtle Movie Yet"

I know I am not the only one that would have wanted someone other than Michael Bay to reboot one of my favorite franchises. I grew up with TMNT and so did millions of others out there who looked up to one or all of the turtles during childhood. But TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman seems to really approve of the film, so there is still that possibility that it could be something worth watching. In the video below, he once again praises the planned reboot, stating that he feels it is the best film in the series yet..

Some of Eastman's words from the interview. For the full transcript, visit MTV
I know that Michael and his group really like that and that Paramount was supportive of that, so I think that it's great, I grew up reading 'Captain America' and 'The Avengers' and all that stuff, and over the course of the comic book history, since 'Avengers' has been around, how many times has it been reinvented, reformatted, restructured, replatformed? Every person that's grown up inspired by that material wants to put their stamp on it a little bit. It just keeps getting better and better, and to have that opportunity is pretty awesome.

I'm sorry but the original film is just EPIC , and I don't think you can come close to what they did then. yeah its tmnt ...but the only way you could ever top it would be to adapt the original comic to a t. bays transformers i enjoy but the over lazy desgin and blatant abuse and neglect of characters is just insulting, transformers 2 you can clearly see "constructicons" fighting / WHILE DEVASTATOR IS ALREADY FORMED! JUST MAKE THEM LOOK LIKE THE G1 LINE FOR [frick] SAKES! so i have a horrible feeling the new tmnt will be all about April and not so much the turtles....

Steven Spielberg was executive producer of the Transformers trilogy and he kept praising it. He's a genius, but....you know. I don't see how this is any different, if not worse.

Sigh... Do you guys really think Bay was going to direct? Maybe that's not what you mean to say and I'm just reading it wrong but it feels like everyone thinks he was going to direct. He wasn't guys. He was just going to produce and he probably wasn't going to have much involvement in it seeing as how A) He's been working on Pain & Gain and B) He's gearing up for TF4. Only real reason his names been attached is because his production company is going to be producing it. It's like Spielberg having his name attached as a producer on all of these different projects. He doesn't have a whole lot of creative input because he's so busy with other things.

And if Bay WAS directing, would that be all that bad? I seriously don't get all the ridiculous hate thrown at that guy. No one can shoot action like Bay can and his movies are fun as hell. So he likes explosions and hot chicks in his movies. Guess what? Most guys would agree those are good things! Yes, his movies are not perfect, but they sure as hell aren't as bad as some other shit we get. It's about time we lay off.

And @BossWalsh, (I'm about to get really nit-picky here)
Those clearly weren't the same constructions that became Devastator. As was set up in the movies, the transformers scan other vehicles and transforme into them. Its entirely possible that multiple Deceptions scanned the same vehicles. And live action G1 designs would just look terrible. I mean seriously. Just look at them. The movie would end up goofy as hell and we wouldn't take them seriously. Not all cartoon designs translate to live action. And "Lazy Design"? That's just plain wrong.

Remember guys, we are supposed to be fans. Instead of bitching and moaning about what we don't like, how about we give some constructive criticism. If we stopped acting like 10 year olds I be the studios would be more inclined to listen to what we have to say.

He's hardly going to slam it is he! I bet the voice in his head is like "This is going to be awful, simply terrible. What else can you expect from Bay? Sure, it'll look nice and have a decent action scene or two but it'll be more disposable than than a used diaper and twice as rotten. If anyone can find a way to camera rape a turtle, Bay can!"

@ Farkosaurus

When has Bay ever produced a movie where it clearly felt like it had Bay written all over it? When has he ever been extremely involved in a movie that he only produced?

Eastman barely has anything to do with tmnt anymore. If Laird liked it, I'd be more impressed.

The first movie still holds up really well, so even if this one stinks we'll always have at least one good Turtle movie. Part 2 still has some nostalgic appeal as well, it's a guilty pleasure, and TMNT wasn't bad either. As for Eastman saying "the upcoming reboot is the best 'Turtle' installment yet." He must've burned through all that money they made by slapping the Turtles on everything they could back in the 80's to milk our parents dry, and now he probably has gambling debts to pay.

This is extremely funny that someone would find TMNT 2 automatically more awesome than the current one that hasn't even been released/made yet. Despite TMNT 2 being closer to the cartoon instead of the most awesome comic book series, despite Casey Jones being horribly miscast and lastly, despite fracking Vanilla Ice being in it at the end (tho' the Turtles owning The Foot on the dance floor was pretty cool).

Just...wait and see. If it ends up sucking like you think it will, b*tch and moan all you want. But until then? Save the hysterics, you'll live longer.

As long as the Turtles arent part of alien race im ok! :)

The alien ooze better turn normal earth turtles into mutants. That never changed in other adaptations.

Why waste your time hating and slamming on something that none of us have seen? Nobody has seen anything from this movie, read a script, etc. It's just been a few comments. This could be a really cool movie. We don't know. Them being aliens doesn't matter if the characters are right. If they act like themselves, then who cares? It's just a nit picky complaint. It's so annoying how people how here and other sites just love to hate and complain about so much before seeing anything. Everyone seems to generally love or liked the old cartoon. That show was just as far if not further removed from the source material then this movie sounds like it might be. From what I've seen of the new cartoon coming out, alien ninja turtles sounds really good.

"Easily the best one yet?" They haven't shot a FRAME of it yet! Eastman is just trying to save it because, if it's not made, he doesn't get paid. It's that simple. I guess I can't blame him for that, but it doesn't garner much respect from me, either. They need to kill this movie now before it dies at the theater.

You morons don't even know who's directing it. Bay is producing it, and keep in mind Spielberg produced Transformers, but that didn't stop those movies from sucking because of a bad director. Jonathan Liebesman, the director of Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the Beginning and The Hitcher is directing it. Lay blame on him and the writers. Don't make Bay your scapegoat for this. Just make him your scapegoat for Transformers.
