Could this be our first look at one of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
Looks like the source of this pic has been found.

We haven't heard much about the new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. Latino Review received an image, with no further explanation, that could be our first look at how the Turtles may appear.

UPDATE: The image is not from any movie.

Latino Review has updated its original story after this picture had made the internet rounds. Some people familiar with the mask recognized it and responded. Kevin over at Fused Film tracked down the artist who is simply working on this as part of his formal education.

Hello, Kevin!

I am, in fact, the owner of the image. This is simply a portfolio shot of a animatronic head i did for class, in my fourth semester of attending the "Tom Savini Special Make-up Effects Program".

It's posted on my facebook as well as a popular FX related message board "The Effects Lab". I have no idea who sent it to Latino Review, with the assumption that it had to do with the upcoming TMNT film.

In all of MY posts of this project, i stress it was a class project, and nothing more. How it blew up to this is beyond me. But I'd be lying if i said i didn't enjoy the hell out of it! Especially seeing people's opinions on it when they think it is truly a concept for the film! It's a great honor to see my project so well received by many hardcore TMNT fans. It's also fun to see the people who HATE that direction of the characters.

Either way, i had a good laugh! Sorry i can't help you with who exactly sent it in. But i can dismiss it! If you have nay other questions, please feel free!

Well, if you took a real turtle and mutated it, that's what it would look like. Also, it makes sense for his mask to look like an old rag. It's not like they could go to the store and buy them.

Kinda looks like a toy some guy made based on Michael Zulli's designs.

I grew up with the turtles, basically they (along with ghostbusters and batman) made my childhood. And I have to say "IF" this is how they are going to look I'll be very disappointed. Listen, there's no need to make them look realistic, they are fictional characters, and unless they are trying to scare the bejesus out of people they should make them look more cartoony/like the original live action.

TMNT: The Geriatric Years.

seriously though, it definately doesn't look like it'll be for kids!!! isn't that what everyone wanted?? i think it looks pretty cool personally.

also, does anyone have any doubt that this is for the new TMNT?

I'm Actually looking foward to a more Serious, Hard Core, Ninja Turtles Movie.

They are about as old as I am and I Loved them ever since...

I think I'll give this one a shot and wait and see how it developes.

I actually dig the pic!

Like someone just said...this is what a Real, Mutated Turtle would look like.

I think it looks Cool and more Realistic *xxkryptonite*. Turtles don't have Big Cheeks like the cartoons or the previous live action movies portrayed...

The more I look at it, the more I like it because it looks more REAL and BELIEVABLE!

Good call CornDog, that looks like Hulk if he was in his late 90's wearing part of his torn pants on his head. I'm a big fan of the Turtles, they were partly responsible for my wife and I being together. If they are going to look like that, I hope at least the movie is super good, and Shredder is in it, looking even more badass than he did in the first movie.

I also agree with NubaX, the more I look at it the more I think it looks okay. I think if they come off looking like that action figure, it will be very cool.

Even though it looks more like a turtle, it looks pretty scary, and for a kids movie, they might send the wrong message lol. Hell, I'm 26 and that thing is freaky, maybe if they round out the beak part so it's not so Razar looking (from TMNT 2), and the color on the headband looks kinda faded, and I won't mind it being all "torn up" style, but I don't like how it's cut out as a triangle above the eye (with all the cross stitching sticking out looks half assed, even if it's supposed to be torn). It just doesn't look good. They will probably revise the headbands but so far it looks more scary than "cool" lol. If they stick to this look, I wonder what the movie tone will be.

Uh...I'd rather not have the TMNT team look more realistic...'cause if that is how they're really going to look, it just looks too weird lol Doesn't even look like it could be a good guy. I don't see kids watching the movie and cheering four of those on in battle lol

Oh man, I never imagined TMNT this way, but I love it. Realistically, they would be creepy. Mutated humanoid turtles. I don't know how they can see with those beady eyes on the sides of their head.
VigilantRebel87
VigilantRebel87 - 4/23/2010, 11:09 PM
to be honest I must say right away that I dont like it...but it could grow on me and I could get used to it. And I know I will be especially cool with it just as long as they make the turtles `actual ninjas` like how we all know them from when we were little! I dont like the currently new TMNT with all their technological advances and gadgets. More importantly than the looks I want the new live action movie to go back to the traditional old school ways that made me fall in love with the franchise in the first place.

TMNT the comic was not for kids. At least not like the cartoon was.

If that's really related to a future movie of the turtles I think looks interesting. Maybe the studio will go for a more edgy and dark version of this characters and for that they will give them a new look.

for sure like a skinny tokar that didnt get to eat anything. actually looks crappier then tokar haha. actually now that we are on that how come they never got some better animals to mutate instead of a damn snapping turtle lol. razarr was fine cause he was a wolf. but the foot could surely find a zoo and capture like a tiger or lion or a bear oh my!

its not that its creepy it just looks like shit. the cgi tmnt was suppose to be darker and grittier anyways but they didnt make it like that at least thats not what it seemed to me. and so this time they are actually going to do it like that. tmnt was never meant for children anyways. in the comics they were some badass REAL ninjas who did kill.
