EDITORIAL: Flash v Flash! Ezra v Grant!

Obviously we haven't seen Ezra yet play The Flash but is the room for 2 Flashes??

Short rant here.  I'm partial to Gustin Grant's Flash mainly because he got the head start, no pun intended, but after watching that youtube video CBM just posted today of his interview with MTV News I'm curious how Ezra Miller would do as The Flash.  I'm not on board with two different Flashes running around on screen potentially just confusing people with which Flash they should go with.  I assume a lot of folks at Warner Bros are with that old school way of thinking that there are not really enough people watching the TV show Flash to care if he's on the big screen played by another actor.  Totally bogus to me.  But WHAT I AM on board with if these 2 Flashes are just from 2 different dimensions that the TV show and movie can acknowledge without having to integrate the universes.  Throw us comic book nerds a bone DC!  We already know The Flash can time travel so why not hop into other dimensions as well?  It would be so sweet if the Ezra character ran so fast that he ended up in Grant Gustin's Flash universe for an episode and interacted with the cast.  It's possible.  Or Gustin ends up being shown in the movie in some type of time beam to acknowledge his existence in the multiverse.  in a 2 hour movie you can only do so much so it would be a requirement to show Grant more than 2 seconds.  Anyway they can keep both universe's separate and still maintain their "film" high post quality.  They are probably gonna use that dimension angle anyway to crossover into Supergirl since Superman exists in her universe but not the Arrow/Flash world.  The Legends Of Tomorrow sounds like the perfect place to set all of this up so I hope it works out.  Anyway I'm Team Gustin(so far).

How bout you guys?

Yeah seriously no one will be confused. People can separate TV and movies.

And it's not an old school way of thinking, it's a fact. I took the average amount of viewers for Flash season one and multiplied it by 8 (around the average american ticket price).

So if the average amount of people who watched the Flash were the only one's to see the movie, it would make 30 million. That would be one of the biggest flops ever.

Most of the people that will see the movie, will have not seen the Flash and why would those people be confused. The people that watch the Flash will say "Oh look! There's a flash movie. Shame it's not Grant Gustin, but let's see if this guy is any good."

And how the [frick] can you compare them? We haven't even seen Ezra as Flash yet. We know next to nothing about the movie.

@MexicanSuperman I have to disagree. Smallville was green lit and given a five season run while Superman Returns was in development hell. When it bombed at the box office, WB decided to renew Smallville for more seasons as they wanted a live action Superman whether TV or movies as they were in legal battle with the Siegul/Shuster family over the Superman rights. I still think Grant Gustin is a good actor who stepped up to the role throughout the season especiallyl in the finale. He should be given a chance because the general public and fanbase have accepted him as the Flash and will pay money just to see him jump to the big screen in his own movie and join the Justice League. I said it befor Ezra Miller might be a good actor but not all actors can play certain roles.

I don't know much about Ezra miller to know if he's a good actor or not. But wb have made many bad casting choices for their DC movies so I'd have to think he'll be good as the flash. As long as they somehow make it different than the TV version.

Grant has not earned anything other then several paycheck from CW. He is just playing ONE version of a charachter that possible will get even more live action incarnation in the future. And Ezra is not playing the same version of the charachter that Grant will be playing. So on just that aspect, it would be idiotic to have Grant as the movie flash.

And fans has accepted him? There is only a tiny part of general moviegoing audienc that even watches the show.

And as @Kong said. If only the viewers of the first season of Flash would have the movie if Grant would be in, it would only get 30 million which would be a BOMB.

Come again when The Flash has numbers like Game of Thrones or Big Bang Theory. Then you could talk about it make sense of having him in the movie.

@Emblemmaniac Based on comments from fans on articles and critic reaction I think people have accepted Grant Gustin. Yes they are playing the same character which is Barry Allen. Not only he won over fans but the way WB went about announcing the movie with Ezra Miller in the role ONE WEEK after the show premiered to critical acclaim was a dick move. I want to see DC AND Marvel succeed but their film slate announcement want a response to Marvel's Phase 3 press conference done with the actors and Kevin Feige in front of a audience. You forget to that everyone in the country don't have the CW so 4-5 million viewers in good. And also for the record some people don't have premium cable or HBO so your comparing it to Game of Thrones or Big Bang Theory is an epic fail.

@Ninjamaster88

Fans of the shows has yes. But a show that has only 3-4 million views (not 4-5 as you put it, but even then it would not be enough to even think about branching to the silver screen. ) on a extreme lowbudget chennel does not equalize moviepotential. When you have the numbers of GoT or Big Bang Theory which is 14-18 millon (premium cable or not) last i checked, then you could say that general audience had accepted him.

Yes, they are both playing Barry Allen, but they are playing two diffrent versions of him. Like Keatons Batman is diffrent from Bales Batman, or Grant Gustins Flash is diffrent from John Wesley Shipps back in the 90s.

The talking about timing of announcement about Ezra as the charachter. Sure, i can agree that it was a dumb move since as Amell said it himself, the second episode of the first season are the most important.

@Ninjamaster88

And if they would connect, problems like shedule issues, actors demanding to much of a pay check from CW so they had to can the shows, Legends of Tomorrow would never be able to air, and it would create some serious plotholes and continuity problems. So Grant is far better of staying at CW and let an superior actor like Ezra handle the part on the silver screen

I like Wally West and just thing it's a missed opportunity to not cast someone as funny and charismatic as Ezra Miller as that character.

I also don't understand how people will be confused?
No one was confused with two Supermen, or any of the several James Bond incarnations.

CW has a smaller audience compared to the other big networks.
And Grant is a good actor but not good enough to carry a movie, unlike Ezra

@Emblemmaniac

Dude your entitled to your opinion but what makes Ezra Miller a better actor than Grant Gustin. Based on the movie roles I seen Miller in he's no better actor than Gustin. You and others users on this site need to get over the supposed stigma of the CW that if your an actor on the network you have no acting skills. Yeah the networks had shitty shows in the past but that doesn't mean Grant or anyone else on the network is untalented. There are actors and actresses headling roles in major superhero and non superhero films that don't have great acting skills.

@ninjamater88

Ezra has gone from roles like We need to talk about kevin, to perks of being a wallflower and have been showstealer in both. And to steal the show against Tilda Swinton is quite impressive. The critics loves him, and every time their is a movie at cannes with him, their is extreme buzz about it.

You are entitled to your opinion as well allthough you are in fair minority in thinking Grant is equal as good as Ezra.

No, CW does not equal no talent. But since i have seen Grant in everything his in, i can say for sure that he is just a mediocer actor
