THOUGHTS ON THE FLASH PILOT
Okay, so as a good proportion of you know, the CW's Flash t.v. pilot just leaked online to the surprise of us all, I think. Like I mentioned in the teaser, I've never read a Flash comic and wouldn't thereby consider myself a fan of the character. But, you didn't come here to hear my comic book preferences, you came to see what I thought of the episode. Well, my fellow comic book fanatics, I was pleasantly surprised.
This pilot has shown me that superpowers can indeed work on the small screen just as well as they do on the big screen. I mean sure, it doesn't look quite as glitzy and all that other stuff, but the special effects on the powered characters certainly gets the job done as far as I'm concerned.
The dialogue held up throughout the episode, despite a few cheesy bits, but I like a bit of cheese with my superhero related stuff, because it's damned well a traditional aspect of the genre. Also, I think all the characters, or at least the key characters have brilliant on screen chemistry and that was a withstanding feature throughout this pilot.
I dunno if I have the right to say the roles are well-cast seeing as how I have no real knowledge of how the Flash is in the books, but I gotta say, Grant Gustin's performance was pretty solid and like I said, there's brilliant on screen chemistry with the characters, especially Barry and Iris I found.
As soon as I found the article on here, contributed by the lovely nailbiter111, I immediately linked it on my Facebook page. A friend of mine said, "Christ that was so genereic, it hurt." I could only respond that as a super hero show, a little generics never hurt anybody. Plus he doesn't read comics , so what would he know!
Anywho, all in all, I have to admit that I was enthralled by the pilot and even found myself squealing with excitement at times, despite not having any real fanatacism for the character, but nonetheless, I really enjoyed this pilot! If you were expecting a dark and gritty crime drama or a super action-y show, this probably won't be the show for you. But if you prefer shows that are fun, quirky and have a nice comic book-y feel to them, then I think this pilot has shown that that's what we'll be in for.
I've been NovaCorpsFan, I hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on the pilot. What did you guys think? What would you want to see improved or even what would you want to see less of? Be sure to tell me in the comments below, and try to keep it spoiler-free, yeah?
