Grant Gustin has a huge responsibility of taking over a character as big as The Flash. He said in an interview with IGN that he has so much fun with the character, and that should help capture Barry's hyper spirit. “Barry’s just excited by all of this,” Gustin says. “He’s a fanboy! And I don’t have to hide my excitement as I play the role, so it’s really fun to play with.” He talked more about Barry Allen's personality and his feeling about developing these powers, saying, “At the same time though, it’s in a reality-based world, so there is an aspect of him that’s a little worried about what’s happening to his body. But at the same time, once he starts to get a handle on it, it’s the coolest thing that’s happened to anybody, as far as Barry is concerned.” He also discusses Barry's secret identity, and if many people he knows will actually know his identity, which judging by the trailer looks like quite a few people know. He says, “We’re not going to play the same game that they played on Arrow, where it was a secret. There will be some characters that Barry’s specifically trying to keep it from, but his circle – for the most part – is going to know that he’s The Flash.” We also know that Arrow characters might make an appearance from time-to-time. Oliver Queen has been confirmed to make a cameo in the pilot, but it is possible they will have a full blown crossover eventually. “I don’t know which characters, but there are going to be crossovers for sure between the two shows. I don’t know who it’s going to be, but yes, that’s gonna happen.” The Flash will hit this fall only on the CW.
After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become… The Flash.
Starring Grant Gustin, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Rick Cosnett, and John Wesley Shipp, The Flash is directed by David Nutter from Geoff Johns' script.
