We recently learned that Dark Flash will be The Flash's main villain, though aside from his monstrous appearance, we really don't know what to expect from the character.
The movie appears to be pulling inspiration from both Dark Flash and Black Flash, creating an original baddie who will likely pursue Barry Allen through the Speed Force when he travels back in time. Now, a new rumour claims to shed additional light on this villain's appearance in the DCEU.
Shared on Twitter by The Flash Film News, it's said: "Small tidbit regarding Dark Flash without delving deep into spoiler territory, his suit is made out of Kryptonian material." That's accompanied by a fan mockup of Ezra Miller as Dark Flash by artist Yousef Defenshi.
What's the significance of the suit being made from Kryptonian material?
Well, this is new information not included in the plot leak from a couple of years ago. Michael Shannon will return as General Zod in The Flash for what's thought to be a new take on the events of Man of Steel. Superman will be replaced by Supergirl in that scenario, so could Dark Flash's suit have something to do with Kal-El being wiped from existence?
It would be pretty dark if he's decked out in the rocket that brought the baby Superman to Earth, but we can only speculate for now as quite a few rounds of reshoots have taken place. There are some similarities between Dark Flash and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's Doomsday, though.
As sad as it is to say, none of this is likely to matter, especially as we're on the eve of DC Studios' plans for the new DCU being revealed. Ezra Miller's Scarlet Speedster factoring into those plans seems doubtful at best. Oh, and it also sounds like we shouldn't get our hopes up about seeing small screen Flash, Grant Gustin, in this movie either!
The Flash races into theaters on June 16, later this year.
