THE FLASH Star Grant Gustin Had To Glue Mask To Face

By now, you've all probably heard just how uncomfortable superhero costumes can be for actors playing fan-favourite characters in films and TV shows, and now The Flash's Grant Gustin has spoken about a particular issue he had with his Flash costume early in the hit show's first season. Click the jump for details!

At some point, we've all heard of how uncomfortable superhero costumes can be for actors playing superheroes in film and tv. From foul smells and unbearable heat (Malin Akerman's Silk Spectre II in Watchmen), to skin irritations and long prepartation times (Jennifer Lawrence's Raven/Mystique in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past), it seems playing these beloved superpowered characters comes at a price. Now, CW's The Flash star Grant Gustin has revealed a particular discomfort he endured whilst playing the scarlet speedster in the first season of the hit TV show - specifically in the first nine episodes. The mask of his outfit had to be GLUED to his face. Said Gustin:

"Minor alterations were made to make it easier to bend all of my extremities, but nothing about the look of the suit changed. Around the ninth episode, we stopped gluing the mask to my face and switched to a mask that just slipped on and off with a zipper. That made me a very happy superhero.”

Well, that definitely doesn't sound too comfortable at all. Luckily for Gustin, the addition of a zipper was added to the mask, which sounds like it makes for a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience. Of course, Gustin's Barry Allen will be suiting up in a slightly modified suit (most notably featuring the classic white emblem on the chest) when season two rolls around later this year.

What do you guys think? Definitely seems like an uncomfortable pain to deal with, do you think it would be worth it? Leave your thoughts in the comments below, and don't forget to share and hit that thumbs up button, and you can catch the second season of The Flash when it rolls around Tuesday, October 6.

Even if you forget about Daredevil, this show fell apart as soon as we found out Wells was Reverse Flash. The dialogue was corny. The writing became unbearable. And that season finale was a terrible mess.
Up to the first half of the season, I might have agreed with you. Especially before Daredevil was released.

As for everyone else, yes it is my opinion. The "period" was just hyperbole. So, yes, it is better than Daredevil. Even John Campea agrees with me on this.

Is John Campea the one reviewer who didn't hate the new FF?

Anyway, that Flash mask makes his head look like a lightbulb.

Wait, did someone actually make an appeal to John [frick]ing Campea's judgement and/or taste?

But seriously people

Daredevil > The Flash

Daredevil has better:

Acting
Writing
Cinematography
Story line
Action
Villain

Then why the [frick] are you comparing the two?

Is Daredevil a superhero? Obviously Flash is but Daredevil is basically a blind guy that isn't blind so isn't he just a regular guy that knows how to flip around a bit?

Coming from someone with your username tho?

Not to say that John's word is law, but he know's his stuff. And like you're using Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, etc. to bolster your claims, I use him to bolster mine.

@PesciGotPepsi:

Let me explain it to you like this. The Avengers is a better "superhero movie" than the Winter Soldier. However, the Winter Soldier is a superior movie. One is fun and one is serious. I'll let you figure out which one out of the two is the fun one, where Daredevil and the Flash are concerned.

Thinking that my posting gifs of gentlemen laughing at your opinion has anything to do with your opinion instead of the much more hilariously ill-conceived strategy to cite John [frick]ing Campea as any sort of judge of television quality.

Also apparently not realizing that I couldn't care less about your opinion.

Also, I didn't even watch the Flash

I enjoy him from what I've seen, I just hate people who use other's opinions as some great argument. I also hate when people use their IQ and/or education or any other abstract number or concept or certification to back up their argument for the most part. Now, if you link someone's argument to better articulate your point, fair enough. But making a statement and saying someone agrees with you is dumb.

Seriously, make an argument, not a statement.

@BatmanHeisenberg

Don't get me wrong, I watched Campea's movie shows fairly often. But having a significant internet presence doesn't mean he's all that informed or (on a different track) that his taste is reasonably noteworthy.

I've watched him spout utter bullshit as if it was fact, knowing full well that he's just making broad (wrong) assumptions and relying on the conviction of his voice to convince his viewers that he's anything more than a slightly plugged-in film fanboy and (up until recently at least) carnival barker. He's basically the Bill O'Reilly of movie journalism.

And there's nothing wrong with that. But every time I see anyone regard him with any sort of authority, I always remember, he's the guy that gave the Amazing Spider-Man 2 a 7 / 10. He's the guy that spent 10 minutes arguing that Infinity Wars Part 1 and Infinity Wars Part 2 were not technically "one movie split into two". And a dozen other examples where he put studio shilling and his own ego get in the way of having a normal honest conversation about films.

Yeah, you're right about all of that arguing from authority crap, but for me it's as much the who that's being appealed to that speaks volumes, as well.
