WHY WE NEED A FLASH MOVIE!

Hey guys, so today I re-released an updated and hard worked fan cast for a movie for The Flash, the famous DC character. I’m not here to discuss my choices, but to express and explain my belief that The Flash is the most needed comic book character to hit the movies right now. I’m talking about the hundreds of other characters that also have not been on the big screen ever. So this does not include Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and etc..... But, here are my reasonings to support that a Flash movie is desperately needed!
I know their are dozens of Flashes in the DC comic universe, particularly Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, and Wally West (Even though I have Jay Garrick mentoring Barry in my fan cast), but three flashes in one movie? Way to much! So just focussing on Barry Allen, arguably the most popular Flash, is the perfect way to go. This is the most important part of my belief, so PAY ATTENTION!: The Flash’s super power of super speed is so simple, yet powerful, that any fan will be drawn to such a simplistic, yet entertaining hero! Super speed is such a common super power, but it can do a lot, more than ordinary people might expect. I believe that this super power will instantly connect with viewers, making them understand the desire to attain this super speed, and the true want to have it! When a superhero film, or even just any other film can connect with the audience, and make them believe what if, you know you will have a winner. With The Flash, children, teenagers, middle aged people, and even older people will fall in love with the character, and the concept of attaining this power that oh so many people have dreamed about!
This power on the big screen will do wonders! Not only do I believe it would be a box office smash, but I believe that it has potential to be an amazing movie. Although I know many people will hate, I loved Green Lantern. Sorry to say, but I did. Cry me a river..... Regardless of whether u loved it, or hated it, you know a potential sequel, or even reboot, can make it big. The Flash can go beyond the Green Lantern, and really can expose it’s spectacular characters. With Barry Allen being played by Bradley Cooper in my fan cast, their is instantly a comedic, star-like atmosphere erupting from the character. Wit and charm is what Bradley Cooper is made of, and with Barry Allen’s personality and occupation, it couldn’t fit more perfectly to connect and make the audience fall in love with The Flash! Then with Iris Allen being played by Rachel McAdams, viewers will fall for the lovable character, having viewers hope for Barry and Iris’s love to spark, in midst of fighting as The Flash! With the other characters I have, the villains are also simple, yet interesting. Viewers will come to love these villains, and will not know whether The Flash has enough in him to take them out! Each with their own special origins and powers, viewers will be off their seats when The Flash and them collide.
Last, but not least, is the need for the DC universe to grow and expand, fully competing with Marvel. DC has Superman and Batman, yes, but Marvel in the past several years has emerged on top, especially with the Avengers. The worst part is is that some of the Marvel characters aren’t even as interesting and powerful as DC’s remaining characters. Ghost Rider, Luke Cage, Doctor Strange, Daredevil, Punisher? Don’t get me wrong, these characters are cool and kick-ass, but compared to The Flash, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman and more... I tend to disagree. Especially with the potential of The Flash and Wonder Woman, it’s truly a shame that these characters haven’t gotten the same exposure. It’s time for DC to reemerge and bring out the characters that our parents, ourselves, and our kids all love, show the world that the simple, powerful superhero is what we need to see me! This is DC’s time to take a stand against Marvel, and with a successful Flash, they can venture into other films like Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Aquaman, other Green Lanterns, and Hawkman, and of course, the one and only JUSTICE LEAGUE!
Throughout this “essay” I feel that I have effectively refuted my belief that we NEED a Flash movie. I highly suggest you check out my fan cast, and comment below on how you feel about the hopefully soon to be feature film! I predict and see great things for this potential franchise, and I feel with the right cast, direction, and guidance, this film can be legendary, edging out every other comic book character that has yet to seen a big screen debut! Let’s see a Flash movie DC, and show us what you got!

I'd love The Flash done properly. This needs to be DC's next movie after Man of Steel.

I certainly read your ENTHUSIASM for a FLASH movie, but nowhere did I read ANYTHING about HOW this could be done effectively. Yeah, speed is a cool power for people of all ages, but besides casting particular actors (I could see a Bradley Cooper), what would the theme or point of the movie BE? All of the Marvel characters you mention may or may not be as interesting, but you fail to explain HOW the Flash would set himself apart from the pack on the Silver Screen.

That being said, I'm indifferent to seeing a film version... I think it's been in production limbo forever because no one can think of the right tone for it. Is his speed a burden? Does it affect his personal life? What are your specific thoughts on a engaging story except your opinion that he's "cool"? If you had to pitch a basic outline to Warner Brothers, you'd need a LOT more than that....though I do like the idea of a Jay Garrick mentor.

..and you REEEEALLLY should look up the word "refute" the next time you decide to use it.

I like your idea of Jay Garrick training Barry Allen. I had a similar idea of Barry Allen training Wally West. Within the first 10-15 minutes of the film Barry Allen dies leaving Kid Flash (Wally West) to take up the Flash mantle. I think with that as an opening and using Geoff Johns work on the Flash, DC/WB could make an excellent Flash film. I think a solid trilogy could be made.

There are a lot of good arguments for why and how a Flash movie should be made...

...unfortunately this is not one of them.

I'm sorry, but if this "well written, essay" doesn't make its readers want to take up teaching English in the public school systems I don't know what will.

There is not much of an argument to this article but I would look forward to a major release Fastest Man Alive movie.

I wish DC would do what Marvels doing and create a universe where all their characters can exist but now that Nolans movies are done and GL bombed it will be hard for them to do for at least another 5 years so they can reboot GL and start a new Batman franchise..

This movie could reinvent Flash into the most interesting screen presence yet. If they approach the character on the basic idea that he defies all the laws of physics on earth. His powers comes from lighting fast thought that bend the laws of nature and earth that are turned into actions.

The amount of stop action scenes that would take place while the flash runs through situations from bullets to catching anything or anyone on the planet including Superman (cameo), all the while some thin glowing plasma is covering him while atoms and lightning spark around him. The Flash looks at situations taking place (including Green lantern projections) that we would be unable to see or hear due to the a force beyond his own understanding. The first movie introduction to Flash would be a complete discovery for him and the audience. These forces that propel him , the microscopic look at his neurons functioning as scenes transpire. Flash runs in slow motion while the world around him is at a standstill, he moves in and out of the camera at different speeds. His mysterious powers shape his incredible physic, the actual process of defying gravity takes the energy out of him and he constantly needs to refuel. These are just a few of the possible scenes of him that could take Flash to a new level. hope the movie gets interesting.

Throw in a plot against the earth that only flash could resolve like a neuron emitter that needs carry and circle the earth at an untenable speed to keep it from falling into the hands of a say a Brainiac that Superman takes on in his next movie.

Anyway, lots of really interesting possibilities.

The sad part is if the flash sits still, you could pop him with a high powered rifle from a mile away, and the guy sitting next to him would hear the shot about 3-6 seconds later while hes wiping flash's brains off his shirt. with no super hearing, super fast thought cant help you if you cant hear the shot, speed force and molecule vibration cant help you either since the SOUND HAS TO COME TO YOU FIRST FOR YOU TO REACT IN THE FIRST PLACE. Even for superman, when he hears everything, the sound waves need to actually GET to his ears. I know everyone is gonna throw in like a million and one excuses and ways to get out of this, but i forgot to throw in the fact that you could wait till the flash got tired also. Cause he does.

I agree. I do feel that we need a Flash movie of them all. It would be 100% original to the cinematic universe. And i love green lantern movie as well.

Hartley, I LOVE that. You could make a really interesting treatment from that one point that the Flash is just a normal man when standing still. All his added strength etc comes from momentum. It could be a completely different CBM with the realisation that Barry Allen might be able to bend some rules of physics, but others still apply...
