Here is a great news for the studio...According to The Wrap, Steven Spielberg & Peter Jackson's motion capture film The Adventures of Tintin opened strong in in couple of European countries, but it had the best opening day in France, where it made more than the first Spider-Man film, all Lord of the Ring movies, as well as Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
"Steven Spielberg's "The Adventures of Tintin" enjoyed a flurry of strong opening days in Europe this week, grossing $4.7 million in France, $237,776 in Belgium and $161,549 in Holland. Sony, which is distributing the movie in those territories, is tickled by the performance. Internal Sony emails note that the opening day in France is bigger than "Spider-Man," the first and fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies, all "Shrek" movies and all "Lord of the Ring" movies."
With Tintin being a very popular character, I knew it would make a lot of money, especially in Europe. But making more on opening day than
Pirates and
LOTR films...Now that is big.
The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn is set to hit US theatres on December 21.
