Mark Wahlberg Led TRANSFORMERS 4 To Pick Up Four Years After DARK OF THE MOON

The fourth installment in Paramount and Michael Bay's Transformers series will reportedly pick up four years after the events of Dark of the Moon. Were you holding on to hope for a reboot or are you in favor of the time-skip?

From Bay:

"The movie is going to continue 4 years on from the attack on Chicago which was in the last movie. So it’s going still to have the same lineage but going in a full, new, different direction and it actually feels really natural how it is going in that direction."

Like BC points out, a lot of folks were confused and/or less than pleased with the 8 year gap between The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises but Nolan's film could be kicking off a new trend where instead of rebooting you simply have a time-skip to justify an all new cast.

Well, TDKR wasn't a reboot it was the same continuity, characters, and tone just 8 years later, so can't be responsible for a trend of rebooting with a time jump when it didn't really do it itself.

More on topic now though, this film seems a bit of an odd entity as I honestly believe that the reboot will happen afterwards starting fresh again, so this could give them the freedom to kill off main characters or the war will end much like it did after unicrons attack in the animated movie, which would also give them the chance to bring in Galvatron.

Let me guess. By some witchcraft, the entire world just happens to forget about the attack in Chicago, the billions of dollars in damage, and the thousands of people who died. Also the Transformers are a secret again and nobody knows of their existence, despite the hundreds of videos on Youtube proving otherwise.

he said the film is going in a different direction....does that mean this one will be good?

Good. That should mean: it's going to be a full-blown war movie with heavily-armed soldiers teaming with Optimus in a post-apocalyptic Earth. No more civilian characters. Hopefully this is less Terminator Salvation and MORE X-Men Mutant Genocide Sentinel-esque. So... that means two giant-robots-versus-the-human-surviors movies in 2014 (e.g. Days Of Future Past).

i prefer that over reboots

hated a lot of parts of amazing spider-man....no need to reboot something so soon after even if the 3rd movie sucked compared to the first 2 movies. I did like the new spider-man but again reboots are getting ridiculous

@95- That would mean no more 200 comic relief characters. We all know Bay will never let that happen as along as he's in charge.

I would have loved a reboot with actors wearing motion capture suits ala Avatar and acting the roles of the Transformers they are portraying.

And I would like the movies to be an updated version/modern take on the first episode of the original TV series. Or, a live action version of the War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron stories.

The biggest problem I have with Transformers 4, besides Michael Bay coming back to direct, is the logo. It shows the Decepticon logo. Last time I checked, all the Decepticons were killed by the not really Optimus Prime and the Autobots. So how can the Decepticons come back to life?!

To be honest, I have no problem with Mark Wahlberg - I love that dude!!! But Bay is really annoying and I just can´t stand the thought that he will make another Transformers movie (ready to screw it up again).

Maybe this time it would be much better, because thank God, there will be no stupid Sam and Mikaela (or the blonde girl who couldn´t act at all)

Bring it on, Marky Mark :)

A new trend of setting a series years later even though that's how Japans been doing it for more than several decades.

I'm happy it's not a reboot, but I'd be evenhappier if that old WWII transformer from the second film reveals that he is senile and his memory of how many original transformer there were can not be relied upon.

And no, it's nothing like The Drak Knight Rises. The Drak Knight Rises' timeslip set the film slightly in the future, whereas 4 years after Dark of the Moon is 2015, which is probably when T4 is coming out.

@MrEko Never said TDKR was a reboot or the first film to have a time-skip. Merely pointing out a similarity between 2 big movie franchises to raise the question of reboot or time-skip. How people respond to Christopher Nolan is out of my control.

Well it's coming out in 2014, 3 years after Bayformers3, so the 4 year in-movie gap isn't really that exciting.

Make it at least 10 years or don't even mention it.

Can't we have just 1 live action Transformers film where the main character are... I dunno... THE TRANSFORMERS?

That would be keen, thanks.

@darkmetal WOAH! Bad movie? Yes. But the worst sci fi movie ever? I've definitely seen worse.
I'm ready to see who'll write the script.
