GEN V Ends With Huge Cameo, Major Cliffhanger, And Post-Credits Scene Setting Up THE BOYS Season 4 - SPOILERS

The Gen V season 1 finale is now streaming on Prime Video, but what happens in the episode and how does the spin-off series set the stage for The Boys season 4? You can find out in this spoilery breakdown!

Gen V's finale is every bit as bonkers as you'd expect and there are a few major developments in the second half of "The Guardians of Godolkin" which promise to be significant for The Boys Universe moving forward.

After Cate and Sam learn what's been happening to their fellow Supes courtesy of the virus which was created in "the Woods," they go on a rampage across campus, brutally killing any non-Supe they encounter.

It's up to Marie and Jordan to save the day, and while Andre manages to stop - not kill - Sam, it's Marie who finally masters her blood powers and subsequently blows off Cate's arm. With that, Homelander arrives on the scene and all is well, right? Nope.

He accuses Marie of attacking her own kind (the leader of the Seven is obviously perfectly fine with human casualties these days) and proceeds to blast her with his heat vision. Later, the media dubs Cate and Sam the "Guardians of Godolkin," claiming they were responsible for stopping a rampage led by Gen V's heroes.

Marie survived the blast and now finds herself imprisoned in a hospital room with Jordan, Andrew, and Emma (who, earlier in the episode, figured out she can shrink by releasing her emotions). Unfortunately, it's on that massive cliffhanger we leave things!

It's a good job Gen V has been renewed for season 2 then.

Still, in a mid-credits scene, Billy Butcher explores the empty facility in the Woods and declares, "What a bunch of c***s." Could he find the virus that will help him bring an end to the Supes once and for all? Something tells us we'll find out in season 4 of The Boys

Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes—preferably with lucrative endorsements. You know what happens when supes go bad, but not all superheroes start out corrupt. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations … literally.

As the students vie for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that the stakes are much higher when super powers are involved. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they're put to the test: Will they be the heroes or the villains of their stories?

This is exactly what Disney+ shows should have been like.

This was an awesome show, can’t believe I been enjoying it more than Loki.
LOKI! One of my favorite MCU characters and his show isn’t or wasn’t anywhere as tense and engaging as Gen V.

And it’s not even about the violence. It’s the story and characters. When you have interesting characters and a story worth telling that will impact the overall narrative, you’re engaged throughout.

Sadly as good as Loki season 2 has been production and VFX wise, the story and characters don’t come anywhere close to being engaging as they once were.

@MisterDoctor217 - I respectfully disagree. Comparing both shows where only common factor is they are based of comics... But other than that it tells way different stories and character motivations. So it simply does not make any sense. Also Loki season 2 is very good according to me, though the ensemble cast is there, the focus of the series is Loki alone, so they will tell his journey. I honestly enjoy Gen V too. I was skeptical at beginning whether it will be another the boys series where status quo of the characters remain same at the beginning and end of the season. But this one is done well... I won't say one is superior to another unless both the series are tackling same subject or premise...

"It’s the story and characters." LOL! Please. Are you fukcin' crazy? The acting and writing in this is laughably bad. And if those two elements are bad, maybe the directing is bad as well. This sho2, this whole "Boys" production , fell off so hard. "Better than Loki" my ass.

I can't even stand Marvel Studios, but Loki, an ok show, walks mountains around this show.

This whole everyone is bad and the bad guys always win is getting old. And honestly all the gore is getting old.

@JobinJ - It's just for a cliffhanger, but all of the good guys, The Boys and the good Gen-V team, will have the last laugh in the end because all about Vought will eventually fall along with Homelander.

But I agree that this time the gore and violence was way too over the top. It was off putting and didn't like how they handled Sam's character. A lot of making-up will have to do if that's in their plans.

I was not expecting that ending.

Originally thought this show would be a skippable spinoff but it's basically required viewing if you watch The Boys. And it's just as fantastic.

Fukc no! Keep them far the fukc away from this. Just because you saw some Nightcrawler rip-off hopping towards a 'copter doesn't mean you should get the film crew to direct (X-Men).

Jesus fukcin' Christ no that's a bad idea...

Really enjoyed this series a ton but I personally thought the finale underwhelmed a bit.

With that said; definitely a crazy cliffhanger and I’m so ready for Season 4 of The Boys!!

Unpopular opinion but I was really underwhelmed by this S1 finale, not just in a The Boys sense but in general when it comes down to S1 finales as a whole. A lot of shock value violence to the point of sennseless that isn't always the case or the point in this franchise's bookends for their arcs.

Probably because I really dislike how they just threw away all the tiny steps of growth and good Sam went through simply because he went to listen to a polarized political townhall and that was enough to make him realize all kinds of Supes must have freedom to do what they want and just like that joined Cate in her incredibly misguided quest for justice and went along with killing all innocent non-Supe people. And verbally assault the person that cared the most for him to the point he made up things that weren't true just to hurt her.

There were better ways to make him snap and just be done with all of this but it came out too abrupt in these final episodes, it should've been an actual conflict within him instead of just having always a good time with Emma. Everything just felt like a waste. And it all just made me really miss Luke, I was as disappointed when he chose to ignore that manifestation of his consciousness and just let Cate make him feel no regrets.

At least Emma found a different way to use her powers. If getting her heart broken and sad means she shrinks, then anger could make her a giant?

Their PSA att he start of the episode about the attacks on campus actually landed this time, this was too disturbing to see. It was just really senseless like Cate making that guard eat his own hands (c'mon), Woods prisoners attacking people and even seeing some of them die by having their heads exploded by the frequency of that whistle.

Highlights were surprisingly Ashley's brash humorous reactions in these times of crisis by trying to nominate Marie as a potential candidate to The Seven if she killed Cate and the rest, Andre's 2nd heroic moment in the series by saving the helicopter and trying to defuse the situation and actually stopping Sam with that taser. And Marie coming around with how she just wants to be a good person.

I thought she was gonna cut her hand and spread it around to find Maverick since he was invisible but the method she used worked too.

Was it me or was Jordan really underused in this finale?

I'd day Marie still has ways to go in mastering her powers because just like she did it to Rufus (this show literally skipped over how he could even live after getting his penis blown up) she accidentally blew up Cate's arm. So it's not 100%, but hey crisis averted so ya I guess.

Maybe Homelander came up with the idea himself of framing Marie, Andre, Jordan and Emma and put them in that lab meanwhile he wants to use Sam and Cate. I'm kinda getting tired of him already. Sue me but that's the truth, just 2 more Seasons until the dude's kissing the floor or so.

Something I'm looking forward to the 2nd Season is what Andre does about his family's powers because he just discovered they can kill them the more they use them. Or is it more like it's what can happen to most Supes if they over do it? Cate certainly was and Andre was worried.

In any case I think Polarity will be searching for him considering he was ready to pass on his mantle to his son and wanted to make amends, can't see him not doing anything to look for him.

Butcher looks healthy in that post-credit scene at The Woods despite being diagnosed just a couple of months left to live.

Would be nice if these 4 characters can be rescued by The Boys in the 4th Season.

I hope Gen-V of Season 2 has a much better and rewarding finale.

"Unpopular opinion but I was really underwhelmed by this S1 finale" - @NinnesMBC

Funny, with your negative opinion, people would call you, well, negative. You yourself would call yourself that if this was a Marvel Studios-related article. But it's funny how a lot of you Kevin Feige fans don't get anyone to call you negative when you criticize something non-Marvel Studios-related.

You get to be justified in your expressing your negativity, but others should be barred from the internet. Well, with all that aside, I actually agree with you. I felt that The Boys live-action adaptation was losing steam in season 2, and all the way up to now, with Gen V, this adaptation of The Boys has lost its way, and gone from being a fairly-good satire, to being the very thing that they were making fun of.

How the fukc CAN you be a good satire when you're produced by Amazon of all places?
