If you haven't heard of Splice, that will surely change! Its garnering controversy and rave reviews in equal measure. It stars Adrien Brody and Sarah Polly as two young scientists who strive to achieve fame by splicing human DNA with the DNA of different animals to create a new creature. In the process they ignore their society's ethical and legal boundaries.
Anyway, the director of Splice, Vincenzo Natali currently holds the rights to direct an adaptation of J.G. Ballard's High Rise, but he would also really like to make Swamp Thing...
"Very briefly, High Rise is a novel by J.G Ballard(Crash), its something that I've been working on for a number of years. I would love to make it into a movie....And Swamp Thing is just something I would love to do. Personally I'd like to go down the Alan Moore road if I could."
The above is transcribed from a video over at io9 which you can see by clicking on the link below.
Last we heard from the
Swamp Thing movie camp was from Joel Silver who assured us a movie is on the way. I haven't seen
Splice yet, but I have seen another film of Natali's called
Cube which is a very under rated sci-fi movie. With
Splice making the waves it has been hopefully the studios take notice of the interest and get things moving with proper big screen outing for the Earth Elemental.
