That was cool. Even with all the little things that I know are wrong with this film, I still can't help but to get excited! Only a few more days!

I'm starting to think that movies, and the media editorializing about them is as political as...... politics. I think the reviewers hate what this movie represents because it says A: smart cgi movies are good and preferable. B: respect for source material is superior to most alternate director/screenwriter/producer/studio decisions about adaptations (which I think we've all known for a long time, at least I have). C: Directors can tell the MPAA can go suck a moose ass, and still cash in handsomely. D: No big name actors, studios hate this for the consistency of revenue issue I mentioned, tabloids hate it, magazines hate it ect, no icon to follow = anger from the popbois.

Also I think the studio wars have their soldiers in the trenches hating on anything not by their studio.

The studios don't want to have to make smart movies because hey let's face it they're a bunch of nepotistically selected, some well educated morons.

They want formulas to give them consistent results as an industry. They want to be able to buy success in movies and remain above the talent in the hierarchy in every way possible, including coercing various ridiculous requirements on movie plot feel and resources used (actors ect).

And of course the MPAA also hate R movies that are successful so their drones are out there hating on this movie in any way they can. (without saying the problem is the R content specifically to prevent them from being singled out as stooges)

basically 70% of lay people who have seen the movie are saying it's amazing. (the other 30% I'm guessing are rabid source nazis, shortbusers, and Palin republicans.)

inversely 65% of the professional reviewers are saying it's bad because it's too close to the source material. with 5% listing other reasons as their emphasis.

Also BTW the hbo first look stuff on youtube looks twice as good as the content we've seen thusfar! The action scenes work far better when the sounds of bones snapping don't have to be edited out for PG preview viewers.

damn these clips and trailers are like the best clips and trailers I've ever seen in a movie. Their marketing campaign is massive and awesome!

I don't have to say it again but Watchmen will kick major ass!
