On the heels of our first batch of promo stills for the upcoming fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., ABC Brazil has debuted the first official teaser trailer, and it gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from Marvel's flagship show when it returns to our screens early next month.

From the looks of things, Coulson, Quake, Mack and the others are going to attempt to escape their mysterious space-prison as soon as they figure out where they are, but that's going to be easier said than done. Among other things, there's going to be some new super-powered characters (most likely In/NuHumans), as well as The Kree and a relentless new alien creature for our heroes to contend with.

Could this be an incarnation of The Brood? There's certainly a resemblance.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the usual place.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return with a two-hour premiere on Friday, Dec. 1 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

That was pretty damn cool. That Alien comment kind of just confirms they're taking heavy influence from Alien. It looks more fantastical and eccentric than Inhumans unfortunately.

@ScarletWarlock - It even looks like they're making better use of their budget than Inhumans.

Moved to Fridays? Guess this is the last season for the show. Expensive shows move to Fridays to die. Unless they're shit shows from the beginning, then they just premiere on Fridays, so no one sees how terrible they are. *looks directly at Inhumans*

@Zarog - people saying the same shit every season. This is AOS 5th final season so far. Guaranteed the reason that Disney had ABC save this show is for it's streaming service.

@Zer0squad - I haven't said it was its last season until now. I honestly think that the budget demands of the show will outgrow advertising value (sounds like it already had in the 4th season). If it does go to streaming after this season, expect it to be extremely stripped down. Production costs will have to be lowered to make it a cost-effective move.

Throughout the last couple of decades, Friday night has not been kind to ratings. There's a wikipedia entry detailing this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_night_death_slot
