Kevin Feige On The Relationship Between Marvel’s TV Series And Their Films

In a recent interview at the Avengers: Age of Ultron press junket, Kevin Feige told the relationship Marvel's TV Series (Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil, etc.), has with the films they produce on the big screen! He also tells how Agents of SHIELD is "blazing new ground."

I'm sure many of you after watching an episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or Netflix's Daredevil, you most likely asked yourself what did that episode have to do with the heroes we see on the big screen? Now, as you watched Daredevil, it focused on him and his characters. Even though it had some minor Easter eggs and references, it had very little to do with any film we've seen on the big screen thus far. On the other hand, when you tune in to Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. they have characters that appear (Sif), and things that happen (The Inhuman outbreak), that always have you asking: What does this mean for 'this' or for 'that'? Kevin Feige in a recent interview with BadAss Digest revealed how the "television" team works with him and his team who deals with the movies. "There have been discussions between myself and Eric Buckley and Dan Carroll, who is the conduit between Jeph Loeb and the runners, in terms of them saying, ‘We’re thinking of doing this, this and this - does that gibe with what you’re doing in the movies?’ And in some cases, like with the Avengers movies, it’s very close. We have to say, ‘This is happening, so you have to do this.’"

Very true, because you can have the Earth get blown to shreds on an episode of Agents of Shield and expect it not to tie-in with the films. That concept would just be...weird! Speaking of Marvel's Agents of Shield, they've introduce the Inhumans a little while back, and these new powers have added much more complex story-lines to the series. Kevin Feige believes that the addition of the Inhumans allows AOS to break new grounds. "In the case of The Inhumans, they’re blazing new ground. As we get down the road towards that one, we’ll see what the pieces are." He then tells that you will have to tune in to Agents of Shield, because it sets up for the Inhumans film, just as the comics. "Certainly, in terms of those backstories on some of those things. Knowing the comics, you can guess the kind of things you wouldn’t see on a TV show."

The newest TV Series that Marvel will create are the rest of the Netflix's series. These include Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and eventually The Defenders! As of now, Marvel could take that team and add them into the Infinity War films! Or they could decide to never do anything with them outside of Netflix. Whatever Marvel has planned I'm sure it's all important. You know what they say..."It's all connected." Sound off below!

I like how AOS ties into the MCU, but I still think the show is mediocre.

AOS connection to MCU is so heavyhanded.
Namedrops up the ass.
That show survives on the basis of name drops.

The way Daredevil does it is much better.

Seriously, if you haven't seen the show runners doc on netflix, check it out!!! He would be a great successor to feige.

AoS is the MCU's bitch.
In many ways I'm glad it's connected but in many ways it does totally affect the standard and writing of the show.

The good thing about Daredevil is that it doesn't totally tie into the movies or rely on them as a crutch.

I hope the show doesn't connect too much to the Inhumans movie.
It has the chance to be a huge epic ensemble (the film) but no one from that show should appear

So does AoS survive because of the movie references or do the movies hold the show down?

Which one is it, guys? Make up your minds.

The continuity is amazing. The movies and tv are like separate comic books, that can be intertwined at any moment. Its awesome.

Why are people saying DD isn't heavily connected to the movies? The crime and degentrification of Hell's Kitchen is a direct result of the events in Avengers. They may not be name-dropping as much but every mention of Hell's Kitchen current state is essentially a shout out to the movie.

Daredevil is the best comic book show in history.

And in terms of crossovers, I would have minor characters from the show appear in the movies. Have General Talbot appear in Civil War and Lorelei appear in Thor Ragnarok.
