LOKI Episode 5 Features An Unexpected Surprise At The End Of The Credits; New Spoiler Stills Released

The penultimate episode of Loki features a surprise at the end of the credits for anyone who sticks around, while some intriguing Easter Eggs reference a real-life criminal and even Norse mythology...

Loki's penultimate episode ends with a major cliffhanger as the God of Mischief masters his time-slipping abilities and decides to "rewrite the story." However, if you stick around through the credits, you won't find a teaser for the finale, though there is a fun moment for those patient enough to have waited.

Earlier in the season, you'll recall Hunter X-05 (Rafael Casal) decided to make a life for himself on the Sacred Timeline as actor Brad Wolfe. Becoming the star of Zaniac - a nod to a very obscure Thor villain - he was eventually taken back to the TVA by Loki and Mobius.

In Sylvie's branched timeline, "Zaniac" is an arcade game, and at the very end of the fifth episode's credits (head to the 44:30 mark), we hear a line from the game as Casal can be heard saying, "You died. Insert your coin, loser."

Does this mean anything for what's to come in the Loki finale? We doubt it, but it is a fun Easter Egg.

Speaking of which, did Casey's original role on a branched timeline as Alcatraz escapee Frank ring a bell? If you're a true crime fan, then we're guessing so. Frank Morris was a real inmate who, you guessed it, escaped from the infamous prison in 1962.

He and his fellow inmates vanished and have never been found, with the prevailing theory being that they drowned while attempting to head to freedom. This isn't the first time Loki has tackled a real-life crime mystery as the God of Mischief was revealed to be plane hijacker D. B. Cooper in season one.

However, the most bizarre moment in "Science/Fiction" comes when we meet Mobius' (sorry, Don's) two children. The younger son, Kevin, is mischievous and has managed to get his hands on some matches. Don sends the older boy, Sean, to track his sibling down, but only after agreeing to buy him a pet snake.

This has led many fans to theorise that Mobius and his children could be Variants of Odin, Thor, and Loki. The God of Thunder is closely tied to snakes in Norse mythology - and revealed his love of snakes in Thor: Ragnarok - while Loki loves to cause chaos. The parallels here are obvious.

Oh, and if you're still not convinced, then how about the fact Kevin's bicycle is green and Sean's is red?

What did you think about Loki's latest episode and these apparent Easter Eggs? You can also check out some new spoiler stills below.

I watched Escape From Alcatraz (with Clint Eastwood as Frank Morris) and thought of this film right away. Frank and two other guys escaped the island in a raft.

They had the Alcatrazz scene down to a science in terms of the lifelike mannequins

Easily best episode of the entire series and, in reality, in all of MCU television

>This has led many fans to theorise that Mobius and his children could be Variants of Odin, Thor and Loki.

Sounds so stupid... sounds like would definitely be something the MCU would've done.

>The God of Thunder is closely tied to snakes in Norse mythology

These shit Thor movies (not the one by Kenenth Branagh) and shows don't adapt Norse Mythology, nor do their so-called ''creators'' have any clue about what is even Norse Mythology and what books contain records of it. They can't even bother making something comic accurate, let alone myth accurate. Next, Thor isn't ''closely tied to snakes in Norse mythology. He's tied to HIM in Marvel Comics. Jormugandr, LOKI'S SON, is his nemesis in Marvel Comics, and he is destined to die at its fangs at RAGNAROK. You know, the story that the MCU could've adapted from the get-go, instead of doing a muddled spoof out of Thor's most epic story as well as the Hulk's.

So... yeah, thanks for nothing, MCU.

>and revealed his love of snakes in Thor: Ragnarok

That was an improvised line by Hemsworth. It had no plot value (much like anything else in that crap movie).

>while Loki loves to cause chaos.

So far he's been causing only cringe.

>The parallels here are obvious.

No.

I'm sure this is not a thing, but when I first read the name Kevin and the name Sean, I thought, "That's interesting...Sean Cassidy is Banshee...but Kevin is the name of Proteus in the Marvel universe and he has reality warping powers and is mischievous and constantly screwing around with things. And him having a brother 'Sean' only further suggests he's Irish like Proteus...and he's an X-men villain...and the X-men are coming...OMG WHAT IF PROTEUS IS THE BIG BAD HERE?!"

lol this show is wild.
