Loki's penultimate episode ends with a major cliffhanger as the God of Mischief masters his time-slipping abilities and decides to "rewrite the story." However, if you stick around through the credits, you won't find a teaser for the finale, though there is a fun moment for those patient enough to have waited.
Earlier in the season, you'll recall Hunter X-05 (Rafael Casal) decided to make a life for himself on the Sacred Timeline as actor Brad Wolfe. Becoming the star of Zaniac - a nod to a very obscure Thor villain - he was eventually taken back to the TVA by Loki and Mobius.
In Sylvie's branched timeline, "Zaniac" is an arcade game, and at the very end of the fifth episode's credits (head to the 44:30 mark), we hear a line from the game as Casal can be heard saying, "You died. Insert your coin, loser."
Does this mean anything for what's to come in the Loki finale? We doubt it, but it is a fun Easter Egg.
Speaking of which, did Casey's original role on a branched timeline as Alcatraz escapee Frank ring a bell? If you're a true crime fan, then we're guessing so. Frank Morris was a real inmate who, you guessed it, escaped from the infamous prison in 1962.
He and his fellow inmates vanished and have never been found, with the prevailing theory being that they drowned while attempting to head to freedom. This isn't the first time Loki has tackled a real-life crime mystery as the God of Mischief was revealed to be plane hijacker D. B. Cooper in season one.
However, the most bizarre moment in "Science/Fiction" comes when we meet Mobius' (sorry, Don's) two children. The younger son, Kevin, is mischievous and has managed to get his hands on some matches. Don sends the older boy, Sean, to track his sibling down, but only after agreeing to buy him a pet snake.
This has led many fans to theorise that Mobius and his children could be Variants of Odin, Thor, and Loki. The God of Thunder is closely tied to snakes in Norse mythology - and revealed his love of snakes in Thor: Ragnarok - while Loki loves to cause chaos. The parallels here are obvious.
Oh, and if you're still not convinced, then how about the fact Kevin's bicycle is green and Sean's is red?
