Disney+'s highly anticipated She-Hulk series is scheduled to start shooting early next year, and it looks like Marvel is now looking to cast some key supporting roles.
According to The Illuminerdi, actors are currently being sought to play Jennifer Walters’ parents; a strong supporting male co-worker in his late 20’s-30’s who's described as being "sweet, earnest, handsome in a John Krasinski sort of way;" and Walters’ best friend, codenamed Susie. This role is said to be "leaning Asian-American but definitely BIPOC, and comedy chops are listed as essential."
Most interestingly, the show is also casting for a female villain in her 30’s under the codename of Lucy, who is described as "a glamorous social media influencer, Kardashian-esque with a dark side."
Walters has had several close friends in the comics over the years, including the the Blonde Phantom (both incarnations), Jill Stevens, and Patsy "Hellcat" Walker. She's also crossed paths with a number of female villains, with Titania and Ultima among the more notable. Neither of them fall into the social media influencer category, but that doesn't mean their characters couldn't be altered to better fit the above description.
What do you guys make of these breakdowns? Do you think we'll see any established Marvel Comics characters join Miss Walkers on the show?
Tatiana Maslany is reportedly set to star as She-Hulk (though she has actually denied her involvement), with Mark Ruffalo all-but confirmed to appear as Bruce Banner. Dead To Me director Kat Coiro wil helm the pilot and several other episodes, while Rick and Morty scribe Jessica Gao will lead the writers room.
