Tim Roth first played Emil Blonsky/Abomination in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, and aside from a throwaway mention in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., that was the last we saw of him until Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Now, the villain is set to make his return in Disney+'s She-Hulk, where he's expected to have a prominent role.
Whether he'll be an ally or enemy to Jennifer Walters remains to be seen, but during a recent interview with the OnTape podcast, Roth confirmed we'll see Abomination back in his human form.
Asked if that would be the case, the actor responded with an enthusiastic "Oh yeah!" before teasing his "weird" role in the series and describing star Tatiana Maslany as "a powerhouse." Luckily, Roth had a few more detailed thoughts to share while catching up with The Playlist.
"I had a lovely time. We shot last year, I don’t know if we may be doing some pickups or whatever, but I really enjoyed it," he told the site. "I always wanted to work with Mark Ruffalo, so I basically just got to hang out with him on a set. The fantastic actor who plays the lead in the whole thing, Tatiana [Maslany], is a remarkable human. So, I had a blast."
"It was tough though, because you never know what you’re gonna be doing with these things. You get the dialogue first thing in the morning [laughs]. It’s that kind of thing. But yeah, I don’t know, I liked it. I thought it was a lot of fun. It surprised me. It just surprised me that they would think of bringing that character back. What they’ve done with it - no spoilers - it’s quite enjoyable."
There have been some pretty detailed rumours about where we'll find Emil in the show, but you'll have to click here if you're curious to learn more about the Abomination's new role in the MCU.
She-Hulk is expected to premiere on Disney+ later this year!
