While this may not be what you expect, the info is still pretty exciting. The following Q & A is from Twitter.

Q: Will it just be an adaptation of the first game, second game, or a completely new story?
A: It will be a completely new story

Q: How are you going to address the element of ‘choice’ that the players have in the game?
A: A movie narrative is different than gameplay. There won’t be a choice aspect to this film, just a normal film narrative.

Q: Will it be a trilogy?
A: We are really focused on making this a great movie, so we’ll see where it takes us. We have to get the first one right to know whether there will be more.

Q: Will Seth Green portray Joker (that character he voiced in the game?)
A: No.

Q: Will the movie be focused on Sheppard?
A: Yes.

Q: If the movie is focused on Sheppard, will it be the male Sheppard or the female Sheppard?
A: Male.

Q: Can you give any hints to potential casting?
A: No. Stay tuned.

Q: Will BioWare allow plot / character changes?
A: Yes, we are working closely with BioWare on the development of this project.

Q: Would you consider Daft Punk to do the soundtrack?
A: We love Daft Punk, but it’s too early to say who will produce the soundtrack.

Keep in mind that they previously said the script was going to be a faithful adaptation, at Comic-Con. Does this mean we may have another mish-mash adaptation like other games turned movies, like Mortal Kombat or Super Mario Bros?

Even though the story might not be the same I am still going to see it. Legendary Picture or New Line Cinema should make a film of some other BIOWARE game like Jade Empire and Dragon Age those would be cool to see to be made into films.

For Mass Efect get JJ Abrams or Steven Spielberg to direct the films

..No Seth Green? If this does get off the ground it'll be like Wanted; completely unrecognizable to anyone that's read the source material.

Don't know about Whitfield as Sheppard, but damn does it suck the man died.

This is how games>films dont work, because they dont follow the game they make there own story and put there own ''spin'' on things,if they make it like the game then noone can complain!

Whitfield would have been great.

Christian Bale, Karl Urban or Sam Worthington (Believe me or not he was pretty good in The Debt)

Tom Jane's your perfect Sheppard. Either him or James Purefoy.

How do you not have Seth Green as Joker??? He's a lot shorter than the video game version, but the personality is all him. Joker and Seth are the same person.

Always...ALWAYS pictured Ben Browder as Sheppard. I think he's my "ideal" choice. I know he won't get it because lolscifitvactor, but I can still dream.

I'm guessing this flick will go so far off source material Sheppard not being cast well will be the least of our worries. Movies and games have never really gone well together. Either of them adapting the other generally results in horrendous experiences. Hopefully this is an exception and they can produce something GOOD.

Gotta have Mathew Fox play Shep.

I don't give a shit aboit Seth Green being in or out. What matters to me is that they stay close to the source material respecting the main story (space discovery, races, etc).

@marvel72 - You should play it man... Those are great games, both 1 & 2. They're basically a evolution of Knights of The Old Republic.

Even though I like Matthew Fox from Lost, isn't it ironic that people are choosing him cause of his Lost character's name was also Sheppard lol? His name was Jack Shephard on the show.
Whereas, Mass Effect's main character (who you play as) is Commander John Sheppard. Granted, they are spelled differently have have a different first name, but that would be awful too close to cast him as another Sheppard character (even though he'd actually be the best choice).

I don't like that they are going in a new direction, that kinda pisses me off. At least we won't worry about them screwing up the already good storyline then eh?
Btw, what's the point of having a Mass Effect movie if it doesn't follow the plot of the games? Unless they are gonna just use all the quests you do as the main story, like finding recruits (your companions), which could be cool. I'd like to see Garrus on film, he's bad ass.

I've been trying to figure out how to make the first game even into a 3 hr film and new story isn't necessarily a bad thing. As long as Casey Hudson and the rest of BioWare are involved, I have a glimmer of hope. He could have been less blunt about Seth Green though; I hope Seth knew this beforehand.

Also, I hate self-promotion. [Insert hypocrite statement]I just recently did a Mass Effect fan cast and would like some more feedback.
