Drum role please!

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions!!

Applause, applause, no really thank you. Umm, unfortunately that was all that was released by Activision.

Last year Activision CEO Mike Griffith (no relation to Peter) publicly stated that there would be a Spider-Man title released in 2010. No further details have emerged as of yet. CEO Bobby Kotick also chimed in with the anti climatic statement: 'the publisher's Spiderman games "have sucked" for the past five years.'

That seems a little harsh to me. I enjoyed Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. The game play was cool and the story moved right along. Did it have it's issues? Yes. There were a few things you had to do in the game that didn't amount to anything. You always have to have a purpose.

For Activision to come out and say 'Spiderman games "have sucked" for the past five years.' tells me that Batman: Arkham Asylum made these yahoo's realize there is a market for Super Hero video games, if done right. I know, what a concept.

Hopefully Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions will be released for the PS3. Nothing has been confirmed.

Great find jman!

Personally, I hated Web of Shadows - the voice acting was dreadful and although the fighting system and graphics were good, it was just disappointing in comparison to the trailers and articles I had seen about it beforehand!

Spider-Man 2 is probably the best game in the series so far but I really hope this ends up being good! Shattered Dimensions though? It's hard to tell from that what the game could be about but I'm hoping it's more grounded in reality this time around and hopefully written by some of the Spidey brain trust! :)

Web of shadows could have been sooooooo good. But I couldn't get past the second cinema scene. The voice acting was atrocious. "OWWWWW MARY JAAAAANE. I HOOPE YEOU LIKED MIIIY PRESENT".

From the title it sounds all Madam Webish and Doc Strange. We'll see. I agree with you about the voice acting in WOS, it was pretty bad, but I liked the graphics and I enjoyed swinging through the city and the fight sequences, but dude yeah the voice acting was horrible.

I hope this is better than the last few

great find @jman

jman: Yeah, that's a great guess actually! That could be pretty cool because I always enjoyed Spidey's interactions with Doctor Strange in JMS' run a few years back!

I agree that it WOS was a fun game, I had just expected better from what I saw before I bought it which I guess ruined it for me when it didnt live up to that.

It was Peter's voice that really bothered me, lol - he sounded like he was about 14 and the general quality sounded crackly and downright rubbish IMO. The webslinging is always the best part of these games - the first time I play them, jump off a building and swing through the streets for teh first time is always a brilliant feeling! Did you play Ultimate Spider-Man? I thought that was pretty great.

Awesome: If you find it cheap enough it's definitely worth picking up!

@supermarioworldE Why would they leave the symbiote out? I only ask because the title "Shattered Dimensions" may imply that there will be multiple spidermen throughout the game. Eg. The Iron spider (original, not the red and gold stark one) Six armed Spiderman (man spider), one perhaps still with the symbiote on (i hope just to smother haters of the suit). Oh... And lets really hope all these wonderful spidermen are brought together by Madame Web(MUTANT IMO).

Also the ultimate Spiderman game was tops so far in my opinion. Much better than 3 or WoS.

Josh- To me, "Shattered Dimensions" doesn't sound too "grounded in reality" LOL ;P

@jman its peter griffin, not griffith lol. I thought web of shadows was a bit of a let down. Too cheesey, voicing was terrrible and the trailer looks so dark and just amazing but that eing said, its my favorite spidey game to date

@HBK

Well, I'd prefer if they left out a symbiote suit storyline because it's been done to death in like the last 3 spidey games. It's time to move on.

As for there being multiple spidermen, it's possible. The title certainly does leave that implication. Perhaps it'll be like the set of "Spider Wars" episodes from the 90's spiderman TV show.

Super hero games are always top sellers wether they are made well or otherwise. At least it sounds like they are trying something a little different this time, the previuos 4 Spiderman games have been almost the exact same game.

And you should get God of War 3. Just as good as the first 2.

@Jman1977: I agree with you. I loved Web of Shadows and thought it was a decent game. Interesting to actually say that their last games have 'sucked'. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

If you havent yet, get God of War 3!!!!!!!!!!!!! The fighting is 100 times better than the first 2 and the first 2 were already baddass! Im sitting at work right now typing this wishing i could be home to play it some more.

@SupermarioworldE: If you havent played GOW 1 or 2, i strongly suggest you play those 2 first before you ever think about getting GOW3. They have a collectors edition for the PS3 for like $20.00..$25.00..something like that.. and it has 1 and 2 on there. It took me about 2 weeks to beat 1 and 2 respectively and even though they were PS2 games, they were one of the best games ever made for the PS2.

Web Of Shadows is a [frick]ing awesome game!!

Ultimate Spider-man too, even though it was Ultimate lol!

The best spider-man games I ever played was the old original playstation games, Spider-man, and Spider-man 2 enter electro (although i did like friend or foe, and web of shadows). Also big news, my wife's and i soon to be son's " release date" is May 2 he's the new iron baby!

@Mixbreed

Oh i've played the first two. They were pretty good. I just had mixed feelings about getting the third because it seems so different from the first two.

Thanks for helping me decide

"Mike Griffith (no relation to Peter)"

Peter GRIFFIN....jeez....anyway i liked Web of Shadows, but I'm guessing because Batman: Arkham Asylum was so good they're wanting to step up thier Spidey games to THAT level. Which would be awesome.

Spiderman 3 was awful and slander! Ive never been more disappointed about Venom.

make it simple- no more 15 buttons to click for one combo. AA has just two attack and block and it was perfect

Ryden- LMAO i wa gonna say the same thing about PEEETA!!!

Leee- you cant trash everything ultimate everyday and then say you love the videogame. even tho.....

ULTIMATE SPIDERMAN was the best game!!!!!! it looked like a comic book, had a great (ultimate) story, and the gameplay and webslinging was sick!

WEB OF SHADOWS was cool but joshw is right the voices SUCKED and i thought they had peter doing things that peter parker would never do even with the symbiotes influence. the bosses in that game were freakin sweet tho.... that venom thing at the end.... or symbiote wolvie... cant wait for the new game!

In terms of spiderman video games, Iv'e always wanted to try out web of shadows and such but could never bring myself to fork out money for it lol. My friend always tells me to rent it only or if you have it-to trade it in lol. the last one i had was SM 3 and i thought it was pretty decent just that it was missing something....well a whole lot of something. if they plan to make this SM game i hope they took notes from Batman AA. Even though AA and SM are night and day, they can still make a great game if they dont rush crap like all movie games.

Never followed the comics or played the Ultimate SM. I do know about the plot, of how Ultimate SM is/about, etc, etc, and im not too impressed unfortunately. just call me ol'school spidey, sorry lol

@Supermario: NP man. GOW3 has the same Gameplay/QTE's/violence with an added "kick a bone out of zeus's ass" feel to it lol. definitley worth the $60.00, you wont be dissapointed. Speaking of which, i may want to go back and re-purchase the collectors edition, i traded it in lol

Web of Shadows..was OK..Nothing compares to the
spidey game ULTIMATE SPIDER MAN..that was my personal favorite!..But compared to Arkham Asylum..nothing comes close..Actually MAXIMUM CARNAGE for the Super Nintendo
was the BEST SPIDEY game ever made!!

I liked Web of Shadows, Peter's voice made me gag at first, but I got used to it. The rest of the voice acting was good though, like Wolverine and Black Cat.

I LOVE Ultimate Spider-Man, with a passion. One of my favorite games, probably my favorite Spidey game. One of my favorite superhero games, for sure.

New game sounds cool though.

Spider-man games within the last 5 years have sucked? I was always rather fond of the "Ultimate Spider-man" game, to be honest. The movie spin-off's were kind of meh. But I felt it did so much incredibly right.

Anyway, I'm glad developers are coming to the same realization the movie industry came to quite a few years ago. There is a big market for comic related properties. Not only do they pull in record numbers at the theaters, they're easily made into sequels/franchises. Why would you not want to jump on board a train that has you rolling in millions of dollars if you just do something correctly the first time around rather than attempting to save a buck and make a shoddy product?

I'm assuming a lot of you didn't play the Playstation Spiderman game released in 2000. It was released by activision too.

I have played every single spiderman game on all three playstation consoles, and that was by far the best SM game. Behind Arkham Asylum, it's my favorite superhero game of all time.

It had a fantastic story, and the gameplay mechanics were superb. Every Boss required an entirely different way to beat him. It wasn't just "beat him up and don't die."

The best part was the story. Every important SM ally and villain was in the game. I miss that game :(
