We recently reported that legendary British thesp Jeremy Irons (Batman V Superman, Justice League) had joined the cast of HBO's Watchmen in a "key lead role", and now some new information on his character may confirm the popular fan-theory that he'll actually be playing Ozymandias.

According to That Hashtag Show, Irons' character is referred to as the "Blond Man", and he's described as "highly intelligent and won’t let you forget it. Think William Hurt with slight Asperger’s. He’s used to being obeyed and always correct. Arrogant, erudite and patrician. Physically fit, he’s never missed a workout in his life.”

That certainly sounds like Adrian Veidt, who masterminded the "psychic squid" hoax and murdered millions in order to prevent World War III in Alan Moore's seminal source materiel. We also know that Veidt will factor into the series in some capacity thanks to these recently leaked set photos.

Solid enough evidence, but far from confirmation. What do you guys think? Is Irons playing Ozymandias? Be sure to leave us a comment in the usual place.

So no more Alfred? I wonder since they are talking like they are going to reboot and recast Batman within the DC film universe if that means a new Alfred?

@Imfunnyhow - I didn’t catch that part of the story. I don’t know why he can’t do both but there’s no telling until we learn more about The Batman.

@Imfunnyhow - Could just be him doing this while waiting on whatever happens with the next movie. Maybe this won't be the largest role, like the villain for this season.

Would be intersting if this was set after watchmen with the truth being revealed, but i doubt it though.

@AngryCipher - I don't know why you'd doubt that. Kinda sounds like that's exactly what's happening.

@AngryCipher - I think it’s pretty much been confirmed to be a sequel to the comic. Playing with the ideas and how they developed from the ending of the story.

Damn, thats some solid casting,if true

Also, so my friend and I were talking about how Karen(spidey's ai) could be the mcu venom,like a high tech version,coupled with the nano particle armor,which is essentially the symbiote body. Any thoughts on this idea?

This makes too much sense. Looks like we're getting a (somewhat) sequel to the result of the Snyder film. Interesting. I wonder if this opens the doors for any actors from the film to appear on the show in some capacity?

I really hope he is playing Ozymandias. Ozy is my favourite watchman, the man is a god amongst men.

He would be a PERFECT choice to play an older Ozymandias!
