Who is the JUGGERNAUT?
JUGGERNAUT is Cain Marko. He is X-Men's founder Charles Xavier's step-brother. He is power comes from the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak which grants him unlimited brute strength and durability.

JUGGERNAUT is a Marvel Comics character that first appeared in X-Men #12 (July 1965), and was created by writer Stan Lee and artist/co-plotter Jack Kirby.

Cain Marko and stepbrother Charles Xavier served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea, Marko found a hidden temple dedicated to the entity Cyttorak. Cain Marko entered the temple and found a huge ruby. He read the inscription on the gem aloud: "Whosoever touches this gem shall be granted the power of the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak! Henceforth, you who read these words, shall become ... forevermore ... a human JUGGERNAUT!" The gem channeled Cyttorak's power into Marko. The transformation caused a cave-in, with the character buried and presumably killed.

CHANGING APPEARANCES
First Appearance
Since his first appearance JUGGERNAUT in X-Men #12, where he encountered his stepbrother's superteam, JUGGERNAUT's look haven't changed much, and most of the tweaks are artist's personal rendition of the character.

JUGGERNAUT & Black Tom
JUGGERNAUT throughout his career had formed a close friendship with Black Tom Cassidy, because like him, Tom also has a brother with the X-Men that he hates.

Joining the X-Men
The JUGGERNAUT eventually allied then joined the X-Men, at first it was only a plan to destroy the team from within but later JUGGERNAUT decided to remain with the X-Men and attempt to change his ways.

Excalibur
The JUGGERNAUT later joined the team New Excalibur. Here, the story of his origin is expanded and revealed that Marko is only the most recent of a series of incarnations of Cyttorak's avatar, with each battling a challenger to the death for the right to retain the entity's power.

Captain Universe
In one story the Uni-Power enters the JUGGERNAUT, and made him the new Captain Universe, but this power was only temporary. When the Uni-Power abandoned JUGGERNAUT he was left in a weakened state.

Thunderbolt
Following Luke Cage's appointment as leader of the Thunderbolts, The JUGGERNAUT is brought up for suggestion for the program. While Cage is initially against him joining, Professor X telepathically contacts Luke and asks him to reconsider, believing he has a chance at redemption despite what he previously told Cain. JUGGERNAUT agrees to do whatever Luke says, partly because he is now suffused with nanomachines which can affect him in his weakened state.

Kurrth
During the Fear Itself storyline, JUGGERNAUT was one of the "Worthy" who was able to carry one of the seven Mystical Hammers. JUGGERNAUT transformed into Kurrth: Breaker of Stone.

LIVE APPEARANCE
In X-Men: The Last Stand, JUGGERNAUT was played by Vinnie Jones, he served in Magneto's Brotherhood Alliance army. In this version, he is a mutant with no explicit connection to Charles Xavier, his mutation granted him the inability to be halted once he started running without actually granting him superhuman strength on his own. During the battle on Alcatraz Island, Magneto ordered him to destroy the cure, but is foiled by Kitty Pryde and knocked out when he attempted to ram a wall while in the presence of the power-negating Leech.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

The Unstoppable JUGGERNAUT possesses the conventional superhuman attributes of an Elder God, however many of his abilities are greater then the average member of his race. Cytorrak grants his godly body to his avatar, the Crimson Ruby of Cyttorak then bonds to his avatars soul and makes him a god by giving him this new body, however, this body is Cyttorak's original Elder God body instead of his degenerated demonic body hence it is superior to Cyttorak's current body.

Superhuman Strength: The JUGGERNAUT possesses vast superhuman strength the limits of which are unknown.

Superhuman Stamina: JUGGERNAUT's body generates no fatigue toxins during physical activity, granting him limitless superhuman stamina in all physical activities.

Superhuman Speed: Despite his immense size, Cain's superhumanly strong leg muscles allow him to run and move at speeds beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete, He can run at speeds of 111 miles per hour or more.

Superhumanly Dense Tissue: The JUGGERNAUTs skin, muscle, and bone, is exactly 4 times denser than the same tissue in the body of a human being, greatly contributing to his superhuman weight.

Invulnerable: JUGGERNAUT is completely invulnerable to all forms of physical injury. The JUGGERNAUT's skin cannot be broken, and he is incapable of feeling pain, or sustaining any form of injury from any purely physical attack regardless of magnitude or intensity. Although JUGGERNAUT is able to be harmed by exceedingly high levels of mental attack, mystical attacks or weapons with mystical properties can hurt JUGGERNAUT, only because they counteract, in some way alter, or reduce the mystical energys that make JUGGERNAUT invulnerable.

Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite his complete resistance to physical attack, JUGGERNAUT can be damaged by sufficiently powerful mystical forces. If damaged, Cain possesses a regenerative healing factor that enables him to completely regenerate with superhuman speed.

Self Sustenance: The JUGGERNAUT is completely self sustained, he has no need to breath, eat, and drink, he cannot tire, hence he cannot sleep, however his self generating mystical engergies provides him with the nourisment of sleep, nutrition, hydration, and oxygen. He is sustained by his mystical energys alone.

Immortality: JUGGERNAUT is immortal. He is not a millisecond past his absolute physical prime, and is immune to aging. Nothing, except perhaps, total molecular disinigration can kill JUGGERNAUT. The JUGGERNAUT is also immune to all toxins, poisons, and disease.

Force Field: The JUGGERNAUT is capable of generating a personal force field around himself, extending to about 1 foot in diameter from his body. He uses this force field for many purposes, such as preventing physical contact, keeping debree and unwanted materials off himself, erecting his force filed to escape piles of debree easier.

Embodiment of irresistible force: Once he begins to advance in a certain direction, it is virtually impossible to halt his movement. Some obstacles such as many tons of rocks and plasma-discharge cannons have slowed his pace but can't completely halt him.

AbilitiesJUGGERNAUT is able to summon and remove his mystic armor at will. As a result of his days in the military and his experience as a superhuman criminal and hero, the JUGGERNAUT is a formidable hand to hand combatant preferring to use street fighting and brawling techniques that allow him to make full use of his great strength.

This is the 50th article in my Know Your CBM Character series. Any requests and suggestions for an article for this series write it down in the comment section BELOW.

Message to the CBM community:To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. MABUHAY CBM and Godspeed!

Now for the supergeeks, identify who this character is and what is his connection to JUGGERNAUT:

saying juggernaut doesn't feel fatigue is just plain WRONG. there have been plenty of times when juggernaut has displayed tiredness, examples;

juggernaut v thor (second meeting)
juggernaut v nimrod

@CovertAvenger: I agree, is it just because he dosn't know much about the character, or that he's part of image comics rather than M&D?

"JUGGERNAUT is completely invulnerable to all forms of PHYSICAL injury." That should quash the Hulk vs. Juggernaut debate right there as PHYSICAL injury is the only kind the Hulk is capable of dishing out. In a straight up fight with no convenient interruptions, the Juggernaut wins no question.
