Professor X's Walking in DOFP & X-MEN: THE LAST STAND Explained?

As DOFP is set to reunite fans of the original X-Men films with their favorite First Class characters, many have started questioning why Professor X is seen standing in some of the production stills & I think I may have discovered the answer.

This picture above is one of the main reasons fans began to become a bit skeptical of just why on earth Professor X was not only seen standing next to Wolverine and Magneto but why he was "standing" there period.

Well, I think I've discovered a pretty easy answer as of why this may seem so and that very answer is nothing other than his mechanical leg braces.

Many huge fans of the X-Men comics may already be familiar with the 1968 X-Men issue #42 titled "The Death of Professor X" which features Professor X's very first death in which his mechanical leg races make their first appearance. Let's take a quick look...

I really don't want to go into the entire story involving why professor X was masked and etc because it honestly strays away from our focus of next years Days of Future Past film but if you all would like to read more into it the title of the comic is listed in the article.

Getting back to our encounters with Professor X's mechanical legs we also have to remember that these helpful aids of the Professor also made a debut within the past acclaimed animated X-Men series titled "Wolverine and the X-Men".

With similar themes tied to the Days of Future Past story arc of an alternate future full of sentinels killing and enslaving members of the mutant race it's an easy possibility that the Professor will be getting more physical within the past timeline set in the 1970's some rumors have suggested that the sentinels will appear in both the past and future timelines and if this is so we could possibly see the professor don his mechanical legs for this very reason.

Lastly I'd like to add that if the mechanical legs are set to appear within the film it is also highly possible that this minor issue with fans could also pave the way towards understanding just why Professor X and Magneto were seen walking together to recruit Jean Grey into Professor X's school for gifted mutants in the beginning of X-Men: The Last Stand.

Even though that timeline will be erased by the time Days of Future Past comes to an end it's one less error we have to worry about within the X-Men franchise.

You can expect to see Days of Future Past male it's way into theaters everywhere May 23, 2014.

@OldGreg No love for Guardians of the Galaxy i see. Anyway, i thought about that but how will they explain him not using them in the future. It's not that it's hard I'm just wondering what you could come up with to answer that.

I think he gets the leg braces from Trask Industries, they seem to have a lot of "tech", Sentinels, inhibitor collars, anti-mutants weapons etc. I'm sure that's where Beast will get the inhibitor collar from and why he looks human. Wouldn't be surprised if he's working for them.

If they are trying to keep up with continuity, i hope they remember to leave Wolverine with bone claws... Becuase his skeleton was grafted with adamantium some time in the 80s.... Therefore if it's only Wolverine's mind that went back into his older body... His older body should not hav any trace of adamantium at that time

@fangz

That's a very interesting point that you made there and I highly respect your ideals because I too was fascinated with the scientific and astrology studies of parallel universes involving time and everything. I guess that's why so many people love what they did with the new Star Trek you know? I may be wrong about them erasing the previous timeline but it seems that they'll be moving behind it for sure with a new cast of characters and etc. it'll still be there and when you actually think about it it's a great way to actually help audiences become fond of what exactly needed to be changed within the previous timelines and how much weight was being held on the hands of Days of Future Past changing that timeline for all the right reasons. So again I do agree with you and I do appreciate your support!

Good theory. If this is established it will fix one part of the continuity issues.

This is why I hope we never see the X-Men in any MCU films. I would hate for Marvel to give a nod to this broken X-Men franchise.

So will we see his braindead brother in this? Didnt he take over his body after he died in X3? Did he walk in the end scene in The Wloverine? Dont remember.. First I thought that perhaps it was PrfX in that bed all along, and he had been using his braindead brothers body all along, as a backup. :) And thats why he could walk in X3 opening even if his own body was crippled. But then he would have had extremly bad luck and broke the back of his brother also..

If he can use those legs then why he is still in wheel?
SUCH AS STUPID ARTICLE!!!

Lol, quit being butt hurt. Perhaps he felt as if he didn't need to make anymore runs with his fellow X-Men. When we saw Professor X within these stages he was much younger making runs to find other X-Men members. Who's to say that there weren't times when he didn't use his wheelchair besides what we saw within the films. I'm not working on the film perhaps that's why this is an opinionated article and NOT news!

@TheMANDALORE

When did you see this on main...

No seriously I'll wait...

Oh what's that? It was never on the main page you said? ALRIGHT THEN! lol Stop trying to be a cool hipster, many people who are considered to be fans of the X-Men comics/story arcs aren't even aware that the professor was using these mechanical legs so for me to make them aware of this is hurting you how?

Lmbooo!

I think you meant to say *clears throat*

"If he is able to use those mechanical leg braces why is he still placed in his wheelchair?"
