Following the news yesterday that Ant-Man opened 60% bigger in China during midnight screenings than Guardians of the Galaxy did last year, it has now been confirmed that the final Phase 2 movie had Marvel's third biggest opening day of all-time in the country. In fact, its only been beaten by Iron Man 3 and Avengers: Age of Ultron, and its $12.9 million haul signals good things to come for Ant-Man. The former went on to earn $120 million there, while the latter grossed $240 million. It's hard to say where Ant-Man is going to fall between those, but it only needs to reach around $90 million for it to hit $500 million worldwide. It's now easy to see why Marvel went ahead and gave Ant-Man and The Wasp the green light, eh? Don't forget to check out the trailer for the Ant-Man Blu-ray by clicking here and then be share your thoughts on this news in the usual place.

I agree! Rudd's Scott Lang is so loveable, I can't wait to see him teaming up with Cap and Hawkeye in Civil War.

I went to see this movie with my whole family, including the wife, kids (7 and 9 years old) and their grandparents. Everybody loved it, for different reasons obviously. We had a wonderful moment together, and that's what I love about movies like this and GOTG. Family movies, yes. In a very good way.

Antman will pass Thor this weekend. Something it would have never made without today's Marvel brand recognition.

@Jeight
To me it deserves a lot more. I really don't know why but I loved the movie so much. Big part of that is that the fight scenes blew my mind

Marvel brand recognition goes a long way. My main issues with Ant-Man are that its villain, though charismatic, felt a bit too much like Iron-Man's trio of evil businessmen, and that it would have been awesome had Hank Pym and Janet been a part of the first line up.

Jollem is almost bipolar with how he acts on Marvel and DC threads. On DC threads he actually engages in conversation and seems genuinely enthused. On Marvel threads he's a vile mutant of a person. I wish he'd just stop commenting on Marvel threads. It's okay to have bias, but why vocalize, bro?

Jollem, the reason the "Block" option was created. Go read a DC article and jerk off to that. Don't bother responding, callous hands. I've blocked you. I know about your comments through others. Why do you feel the need to constantly bash the MCU? It's because you're a small minded little shit who doesn't have anything better to do than to come on these threads and make a complete ass of himself. Fvck off, asshole!!
