Just a few hours ago, Edgar Wright posted the image above on his official blog with the caption, "Homework." The image is from the 2nd season of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, episode five titled: "To Steal an Ant-Man." It's based on the comic book, Marvel Premiere #47, which was also titled: "To Steal an Ant-Man."

What's so special about this episode? Well, it's the first appearance of Scott Lang as Ant-Man. Also, the first appearance of Heroes for Hire Inc. - Luke Cage (Power Man) and Danny Rand (Iron Fist). The episode begins with Hank Pym discovering that his Ant-Man suit has been stolen, and has been used to rob banks. Hank doesn't want to get The Avengers involved and turns to Heroes for Hire Inc. for help.
The thief returns to his hotel room, but Luke, Danny and Hank track the suit's Pym particles using Hank's technology. The thief removes the helmet, and Hank realizes he knows this man: Scott Lang, a janitor at Grayburn College. Scott explains that he was an electrical engineer who fell into bank robbery to help his sick daughter Cassie, but he got caught and went to prison for three years. Unable to get work as an engineer on release, he ended up as a janitor and discovered Hank Pym was Ant-Man. His old partner, William Cross, wants the cut he lost when Scott went to prison, and kidnapped Cassie to ensure he gets it. Scott stole the suit to rob the money needed get Cassie back.

Scott and the others head to Cross’s hideout, where he has a gun trained on Cassie. After it becomes clear Cross can't be negotiated with, Hank throws an improved Pym particle disc at Cassie, allowing Scott to shrink down and move her to safety. Scott, Luke and Iron Fist fight Cross and his henchmen, and once they defeat the bad guys, Scott offers to turn himself in. The others talk him out of it, observing that he's pretty good at being a superhero, and Hank gives him the Ant-Man suit.

Marvel's "Ant-Man" has found its hero in Paul Rudd, who will star in the new film from director Edgar Wright hitting theaters July 31, 2015!

I don't see why they would choose Lang over Pym. Pym is a lot more interesting and has a vast history to pick from. Also if it is Lang then I can't see wasp having a major role.

@0megaDaGod " as it is about Pym learning to get over himself and be the hero he needs to be"

This could be a cool plotline. Maybe in the past he lashed out against Janet, and regrets that. And now that Scott comes on the scene as an angry, unapologetic guy, Pym can serve as a mentor for Lang.

It would be highly unlikely for Edgar Wright to skip over Hank Pym and go with Scott Lang instead, especially since he is an Ant-Man fan.

Maybe Scott Lang is somewhat of a antagonist in the movie? Edgar Wright did describe it as a heist film. Maybe Scott Lang steals Hank Pym's suit and goes around robbing banks or stealing technology equipment for A.I.M., because they kidnapped his daughter and are using her as leverage?

After Aldrich Killian was killed, A.I.M. probably went bankrupt. It would be cool to see Hank Pym and Scott Lang team-up and work together to save his daughter.

I still believe a fusion of Pym/Lang is what we might end up seeing. Hank Pym's too essential to the Marvel Universe to just skip over. But Scott's sympathetic story of doing everything he could to save his daughter's life is something the General Audience will eat up. And let's face it, an Ant-Man movie needs the GA on its side. Plus, rumor has it they're planing to use the Inhumans as their 'mutants'. Maybe this is Marvel's idea of a family dynamic with Hank/Janet/Cassie. This could be the MCU's answer to not having the movie rights to the F4. Just my guess.

The only problem I have is the suit I hope Edgar Wright fixes it to make it look like the classic EMH suit.

I've watched the episode from EMH. I think it's interesting in where it could be a clue that Scott Lang steals Hank Pym's Ant Man technology to save his own daughter. I doubt Luke Cage and Iron Fist will cameo in the film but i'm optimistic.

What i do think is what if Ant Man Hank Pym already existed before The Avengers or even Iron Man in the MCU.

I hope they use Pym if not they will use lang not both this will be the plot and rob banks to save his kid and he mite still the suit from shield or. Some smart guy that made the suit and no one ever used it but lang is take the chance and it works he learns how to use it save his kid and become a hero..but I really hope they use Pym so we can see wasp

@MightyZeus It would make sense. Ant Mans powers aren't flashy enough to attract attention and he could have been working as a spy all this time. Plus it would explain why Fury said to Iron man that he isn't the only superhero in the world. Sense at the time I think Hulk was the only one who existed.

Nice! I remember watching EMH and thinking the Marvel directors could do worse than to watch the show for reference.

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE is improving somewhat but it's still not the essential viewing that its predecessor was.

I don't think they want to go with Hank just because of some of the more adult back story. Marvel is going for happy shiny view of the world. Aliens are the bad guys not wife beating superheros with really deep back stories.

@GammerDad The MCU isn't as black and White as you think. Its not all Us and Them. Captain America: TWS is proof of that as SHIELD, the 'heroes' from the first film are the villains. Although you are right about the fact that spousal abuse may be a bit too dark for the MCU.

"They would do the same concept as TDKR's John Blake, by mixing all the robins into one. Hank Pym + Scott Lang = Hank Lang"

Enphlieuwince

I don't know where this pussy footing MCU concept is derived from. I've heard Hulk mention suicide. Black Widow coming to terms witb her bloody past. The potential of corrupt government has and will be touched on. Post Traumatic Stress and terrorism are not children friendly issues. Loki flat out murdered ppl and tried to kill his brother, yet he has been given a chance for redemption. I mean... I should've had you at suicide.

Let's not forget that a recurring theme of these movies is "redemption."

Some of you see the humor and shut your brains down; just assuming "it's a Disney film for kids" when in reality many of the themes of these movies go far above the understanding of children.

Remember, "don't let the smooth taste fool you."

Have Pym developing his tech in the past (could be as far back as the late 1960's or as recent as 1990's, or set just before the first iron Man film).

Dr Henry Pym and his girlfriend Janet Van Dyne are working at S.H.I.E.L.D where Pym discovers the subatomic "Pym particles".

This can lead to a big period Sci-Fi/Spy adventure with Ant-Man and Wasp. After this is concluded the pair decide it is too risky to pursue the life of a Superhero, shelve their uniforms/equipment and return to safer lab work - in particular concentrating on Pym's 'Ultron' concept...

Then, in the present day (around the same time as 'Avengers 2') Scott Lang can steal the Ant-Man suit and equipment from Pym's home/lab and we can have an adventure with him. Although Lang is a thief it is revealed after he is caught by Pym & Wasp that he had good intentions. Because of this Pym does not press charges and a friendship develops with Pym acting as mentor to Scott Lang the new Ant-Man, and a future member of the Avengers....

No intro for Pym, have him already be Ant-Man when movie start. Talks about Pym Particles throughout movie... Maybe allow Jan to become Wasp in movie and you introduce Lang... Also Have Pym grow, and this keeps us from having to watch a bunch of origin type films.

@Enphlieuwince You also forget Killian murdering Maya in cold blood, Malekith committing mass genocide on his own people and the fact that Fury straight up lies to the faces of the Avengers even though he's meant to be the good guy.
