Director Edgar Wright has been locked in to helm the Marvel Studios adaption of the character Ant-Man For Several Years. A few months back actor Nathan Fillion of Firefly/Serenity fame was rumored to star as the title character. So what does Edgar Wright have to say about the constant suggestion of Fillion for the role?

So with Fillion already turning down the role it seems we can only dream. Not that it is completely out of the picture but with Fillion's dedication to his new show Castle it may take some time if it ever happens.

The Ant-Man movie has no official release date as of now, But we can assume it will happen after the 2012 superhero team up blockbuster The Avengers.

He'd have to spend more time making one Uncharted movie than signing onto a 9-picture deal?

I like Fillion, but think he'd be a terrible choice for Hank Pym, or even Scott Lang. Maybe he'd be okay for Eric O'Grady, but I don't wanna see O'Grady for a looooong time (if ever) in the films. I'd prefer to see Fillion as Wonder Man in an Avenger's sequel...

I like Fillion, but there is no way he could make me believe he was an intellectual like Pym.

The movies never going to be made so it doesn't matter.

I don't think the intellectual persona is not what we should be focusing on. Look at Downey's performance as Tony Stark -- it clearly shows how intelligent Stark is, but I think what needs to be portrayed is how flawed he is as a human being (which Downey did well in Iron Man). Pym is very flawed human being and I believe Fillion could fill that role very well.

Simon Baker for Pym if Fillion (most likely) won't/can't do it.

Sharlto Copley for Ant-Man(Dr. Hank Pym)

Chris Pine for Ant-Man(Scott Grady)

I like Fillion but I don't see him as Hank Pym.

I want Joe Anderson (Across the Universe, the Crazies) to be Hank Pym. I want them to play Hank Pym as a young brilliant but insecure scientest who doesn't want to fight crime but becomes the hero.

For Scott Lang, I'd go with either Eric Stoltz (Caprica, Pulp Fiction, Mask) or Simon Pegg (Star Trek, Mission Impossible 3, Hot Fuzz) as a man just trying to help his daughter, and works to help his daughter and ex wife, and becomes a hero as well.

I want them to include Eric O'Grady as well and tell the story of 3 diffrent Antman at the same time, like Pulp Fiction. For Grady I think Will Arnett (Arrested Development & Running Wilde) would be perfect because he can be very funny and a jerk, but still could be a good guy when he wants to be.

Glad Edgar Wright is directing, a strange pic but I loved his past three films. Good action and comedy as well as good character development with interesting camera shots and fast paced editing will be a good mix for Antman.

Can't see him in the role anyway. I can see him as Drake in uncharted but there are better people for that too.

I'm baffled too Edgar. He looks nothing like Pym. And there are much better actors out there who fit the role soooo much better...like Patrick Wilson.

Fillon isn't thaqt great of an actor, he stars on a bunch of cheesey tv shows that really suck.

I like Nathan Fillion and I'd go with his supporters. But I did hear that he turned it down. So my next choice is...

Eddie McClintock (Warehouse 13's Peter Lattimer)

Yeah I don't think he would necessarily make a good Ant man, I think its just what a lot of people were expecting when Joss Whedon was announced as directing Avengers, and that just carries over now that a solo film is being made. I would like to see him play a super hero though. A GOOD one preferably! Ant Man can go suck on his little metal pacifier.

Ralphmouth, your a c#nt.

I have no idea what is happening in the story/script.

There are so many rumours about what may or may not be happening with this film and the direction they are taking it that literally ANYONE could be Pym, Lang or O'Grady.

Until we know a little more I find it impossible to even suggest a favourite.

However, that does make me all the more excited about what is going to happen in this film. So many questions...

To follow in Ror's footsteps, not only is Fillion "chosen" by the fans for Pym on account of Whedon but also since Baccarin is in the running for Wasp. Aside from that, there are probably thousands of male actors in their 30ies that could pull off a decent Pym. Fillion isn't anymore perfect for this role by any stretch. Personally, i've never been a fan of Pym so i could easily do without. Pym is to me what Aquaman is to the JLA. Important for certain specific storylines but not a necessity. I will say however, no Pym = no Ultron which would be a damn shame. Any deviation from that in any way and the fans will be screaming bloody murder.

I still don't get the whole idea of wanting to make an Ant-Man movie. Ant-Man is a fine character as part of a group (and an essential part of any Avengers film), but he's just not a strong enough character to carry a film by himself.

Besides, what is there about him that would attract non-comic reading audiences into the theater?

The only version of this character that could make a good lead character is the Irredeemable Ant-Man, which could work in a dark comedy.

Just seen the first 8 episodes of Avengers Earths Mightiest Heroes and im increadably impressed by it so far. Even the opening sequence song doesnt bother me that much anymore. Hank and Jan will be in the Avengers movie as cameos I can see him working on Ultron in the background.
