Marvel Studios is undoubtedly moving forward with new
Iron Man and
Thor installments for their first slate of films post-
The Avengers. While
they're much-anticipated, I for one was hoping they'd be introducing new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe; particularly the long-productive
Ant-Man movie.
While "drafting" seems to be all director Edgar Wright and co-writer Joe Cornish have to reveal lately, Cornish's recent chat with
I Am Rogue isn't too surprising. Check out what was said below.
“Yeah, Ant-Man is still going,” confirmed Cornish. “Edgar and I were writing on it only the day before yesterday,” he admitted. I followed up by asking if they were doing a lot of rewriting on the script. “Yeah, we’re just drafting and drafting,” he said. Finally, I wanted to find out if Cornish thought that Edgar would still end up directing the movie. “Yes,” Cornish answered. “I’m just a humble writer on that one,” he said in closing.
Other than Edgar Wright revealing last year that it's essentially a high-tech spy heist film with somebody with a very particular power, there isn't much known regarding the cinematic adaptation for the Astonishing Avenger, Ant-Man. And while Marvel Studios' president once stated they could be releasing at most 3 films a year, post-
The Avengers, I wouldn't rule out
Ant-Man for 2013 just yet.
However, since the film has been in development for about four or five years now, I won't get my hopes up for a 2013 release if they're still drafting at this point. So, if CBMs haven't died down by then, 2014 is likely. What do you think?
