While the latest Avengers: Age of Ultron buzz surrounds Scarlett Johansson's pregnancy and the effect it might have on the production, a new starlet has been confirmed to join the cast. Korean actress Kim Soo Hyun (Claudia Kim) has been rumored for some time, but she and Disney Korea reps made things official this week. “After a long wait, I’m happy to be back with great news,” started Kim Soo Hyun in a Twitter post yesterday. “I have a lot to do ahead of me, but for now, the words ‘Welcome to the Marvel Universe’ are amazing and kind of overwhelming. I was a fan of Marvel Comics, and if you really like something, looks like fate can make it happen.”
In typical Marvel fashion, the character that Kim Soo Hyun is playing in Age of Ultron is being kept under wraps. “It would be a spoiler, so we can’t tell you which character she will play,” said a supposed film rep to Osen (via DramaFever). “Marvel always prohibits telling too much about the story. Her character is already decided and the scene is already written so we cast Kim Soo Hyun, but we can’t let you know about her character. We only can say that her character is a substsantial supporting role,” the rep added. Past rumors had claimed Kim Soo Hyun was playing a doctor to Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark with ties to Ultron. Before she takes part in the South Korea filming next month, the actress will attend next week's Captain America: The Winter Soldier LA premiere.
Other tidbits on The Avengers: Age of Ultron - Elizabeth Olsen attended the Miu Miu fashion show yesterday in Paris where she reaffirmed to Women's Wear Daily that principal photography on the Marvel sequel is right around the corner. Speaking about her role as the Scarlet Witch, Olsen stated “she has mind-control powers and she’s one of the most bad-ass characters; It’s really cool.” Meanwhile, it seems Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner will take part in scenes shot on-location in Italy later this month, if Twitter is to believe. Finally, in case you're not up to speed on how Scarlett Johansson's bun in the oven could impact filming, it's been reported that her Black Widow scenes will be “fast-tracked” on account of the actress being now five months along and due in August. Chiming in on the matter Tuesday, notorious Marvel movie scooper Elmayimbe of Latino Review took to Twitter to tease: “I wonder how Avengers: Age of Ultron will handle Black Widow being pregnant since in the script she is dating ************ :)” What do you think?
The Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, with Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, and James Spader. The film is set for release on May 1, 2015.
