In case you missed their live streaming interview with the star of next week's Captain America: The First Avenger film, Chris Evans, MTV News have been unveiling segments from the lengthy chat today. And the latest highlights Evans' praise for The Avengers director Joss Whedon, as well Steve Rogers' storyline in the crossover ensemble.

"He's unbelievable," Evans said. "He's so clever. He lives in the world of comic books, so he has in his head an amazing story all mapped out. When it comes to directing actors and understanding dialogue, he's an incredibly talented writer. If something isn't working for you as an actor within the words, he can walk away for 10 minutes and come back with seven options that are all fantastic and clever and witty and it's got a pace and a banter," he explained. "He's a great guy to be quarterbacking the thing."

"It's really multifaceted. [Cap] has to accept fact that everyone he knew and loved is gone," Evans said of his character's new arc. "Not only is he alone, [but] the world has changed so much, and I think a big part of what makes Cap Cap was his connection to the way things used to be, this kind of pro-American morality and good-ol'-boy sense of life and doing things," he added. "In the modern era, there's a bit of a disconnect. There's not as much human interaction. I think there's more cynicism than there was back then, so it's him trying to come to terms with the way things are."

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!

@Nephillim, just look at the scenes we've seen and how they talk about how humble Steve is. I don' tink we have to worry about it being like Ultimate Cap.

I'm relieved to hear they're doing the fish out of water story for Cap in Avengers. That really is what makes the idea of seeing the character continued so interesting.

I hope this movie is at least 2 hrs 15 minutes long!

I don't think they would change Cap's personality from one movie to the next, Nephillim.

JackBauer - That would be even better, and would make sure the audience would connect to each avenger, but I doubt it'll be that long.

@MarvelWeiner: You're damn right we are. Of the Marvel books I read, Avengers pretty rarely wows me; if not for Whedon, I probably would wait til DVD to see it, but I'll be damned if I can't wait for this to come out.

@Kes I agree. Green Lantern is getting old and the adds are annoying. The movie failed and they are trying their best to make as much money as possible.
Anyway, looks good for Cap and the Avengers.

I like what i read. Cap getting adapted to our reality is important and should be a main feature here. At the same time a huge menace is rising.

I'd say that they'd only touch down on the Fish out of Water story in the Avengers. Just little things like 'Oh what's this?" and "How does that work?"

Nice. This movie is going to be chock' full of depth. So much range for some epic drama just with the whole "character out of place and in a different time" thing. I can't wait to see how they cram so much stuff into one movie. Between Cap, Thor and Hulk I doubt they'll have room to touch on Tony's alcoholism, but that would be an awesome dramatic element in itself. I'm betting that will be a big part of Iron Man 3.

THEY NEED TO GO IN THE DIRECTION OF LOTR AND REALLY FOCUS ON CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. BUT AT THE SAME TIME PULL OFF SOME MICHEAL BAY ACTION STYLE, AND REALLY MELT OUR FACES OFF. I WANT IT TO SO BAD ASS THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO DECIDE IF IT IS EVEN WORTH MAKING ANOTHER ONE BECAUSE THE FIRST ONE IS SO EPIC THE SECOND MAY NOT EVEN BE WORTH IT. AND MAKE IT VERY LONG, ALL THE GREATEST TRILOGYS IN MOVIE HISTORY DIDNT RUSH THE MOVIE AND WERE VERY LONG.

@THORION76 - Avengers has one advantage if compared to, for example, x-men - the characters already had their origins and "styles" explained, so the thing here is to present their relation, conflicts, etc.

I'm pretty confident here. Even people who aren't into comics will love to see all these returning characters together.

Just hope it's lenghty.

@everybody talking about that GL ad

Really, what the [frick] guys? I thought this was a post for commenting the awesomeness of the Avengers; not a Green Lantern movie whine sessions on "how bad it is".
Jesus Crist, the ads are pretty similar to those Scott Pilgram ads a year back; and yet nobody bitch about that.

I think it's the sadomasochist Cap Nephilim doesn't want, which I can agree with, that would blow.

Rodimus, lol, your always makin' me crack up dude lol. You're such an asshole, and I mean that in as good a manner as one can.
