Mark Ruffalo Gives Us An Idea How The Hulk Will Look In The Avengers

Mark Ruffalo has spoken some more on the motion capture process he will be going through to transform him into the Green Goliath, and reveals that the resulting CGI creation will be an almost exact replica of himself, body hair and all!..

It looks like we can put any doubts about Ruffalo doing the motion capture work for The Hulk in The Avengers to rest now for certain. The actor spoke to Movieweb about the process, and revealed that this version of The Hulk will almost be an exact replica of himself, right down to his wrinkles and body hair..

"No one has asked me to shave my chest yet, thank God. They want this Hulk to be as close to me as possible. I'll be playing him in motion-capture, so this Hulk will just be a bigger avatar version of me. As they're modeling him, they're using many of my own features, down to my scars and wrinkles. He will have body hair, but I don't know to what extent."

That sounds very interesting. It will certainly be a departure from the previous incarnations we have seen of the character. Get a glimpse of the hairy Hulk when Avengers hits theaters May 4, 2012.

still would prefer Norton. If only for continuity but mostly because i prefer him as an actor.

The hulk in The Avengers might not end up being the fan favorite look but I bet the improved CGI will make it the most realistic looking.

The funny thing about all the people who are coming down on the 'continuity' issue, is that while I do get their arguments and agree to an extent, at what point in the history of comics has ANY character looked EXACTLY the same throughout their stories. When a character would appear in a different comic other than their own, their appearance would change based on the artist's depiction of said character and how they draw them. Therefore, why couldn't the same leeway be applied in this instance. I would think that most fans of the original material(comics) would get that, but I guess not. When it comes to the casual fan, I can see how continuity does become a bigger issue, but in the grand scheme of it, we're all still going to know that the giant, green, angry guy is the Hulk regardless of what he looks like...

i'd love it if they explain the change in actors as a defect of the Gamma Radiation.

By Avengers 2, or TIH2, he'll be Will Smith XD

It was bad enough they replaced Norton (nothing personal to Ruffalo - I'm sure he'll do fine) but now they're not even keeping the same Hulk? Continuity is being thrown out the window!

Better be no body hair. Hulk with a happy trail and hairy nipples does not turn Betty on. It takes away from his muscle definition too

For looks; I thought Norton's Hulk was a huge improvement over the Ang Lee version. I was hoping they would stick with the cgi from the last film, but i'll reserve judgement until I see what the final product is for Avengers

Ruffalo will make a GREAT banner, mark my words! The hair thing? Meh. Doesn't really bother me. I mean if you think about it, it makes more sense that he is just a hulked up version of banner, and Ruffalo is a hairy dude!

I don't understand the problem here. A CGI Hulk that not only looks nice, but can act? That's a good thing.

(well, act as good as Ruffalo can)
