Agreed. He would've made it worse than Superman Returns.

Don't get me wrong. I think M is a good director. I like some of his films, but not for Superman and Batman. An even slower pace than Superman Returns is something we don't need.

He was offered back when he was making hit movies, now everyone is against him. I like his work, all of it actually however, I couldn't see him do Superman and Batman. Those properties are not for someone like him. Look at LAST AIR BENDER, not bad and not that great either.

Hm...but you are all forgetting would he have done worse with Superman than say...- BRYAN SINGER???

Bryan Singer put Superman in the grave...M Night might have put the final nail in the coffin, but Supes shouldn't have been in that grave to BEGIN with. SO I say...Singer is worse.

See, told you guys there was a god! :P

Seriously, thank [frick]! We would have gotten the slowest film about a guy that's "supposedly" faster than a speeding bullet. We would have gotten a Superman film where Lois's name would have been pronounced "Lewis", Kal-El would have been pronounced "Call-Elle", Lex would have been "Lax", Jimmy would've been "Jaime", Perry would have been "Parie" and so on and so forth. Superman could only glide on air currents if they were favorable, could make things warm up to room temperature by staring at them, could keep a sandwich fresh by leaving it on the counter and blowing on it every now and then. Sounds like a "Man of Aluminum" story that i would've definitely passed on. After the last Gasbender, how could anyone think he would have given us anything better than Singer??? I'd let him direct "The Question", nothing else.

Signs was terrible, absolutely terrible.. It made no sense to me. Why the hell would a alien race attack earth which is mostly water when water kills them or whatever it does to them.. Just stupid if you ask me.. There where alot of other things I hated but I have not seen it in a long time and can't remember what they where now.

Unspoken- Preach on! [frick] i hated Signs! After his first two films, there's nothing he has done that i actually enjoyed. I hated him for getting his hands on Avatar but i gotta say, after having seen the trailers, i switched camps cause it really looked like it was out of this world awesome! I really thought he'd redeem himself with that. So in the end i was HEAVILY dissapointed with him only MAKING it look good but actually giving us a turd in disguise, like his usual work.

I was probably some of the few who actually liked The Happening though. Even as odd as it was. I am scared to cut my grass now.

Yeah, change the story to some of the endings and most would be a ton better...except the Village... that movie actually made me mad and throw popcorn. No hope for that one.

Signs was the only movie he's made with an actual point, a moral of the story if you will. It's about not losing faith in things, and they pressed on it during the film, and I personally, thought it was amazing just from that aspect. Yeah the whole alien aspect had plot holes though, and some of them were funny, like they can't open doors but they can make space ships that fly millions of miles through space lol? I think the movie itself was good though, the human part of the storyline was by far the best part, with the flashbacks, especially the end with the whole 'swing away' thing, I thought that was so clever, gave me goosebumps actually lol. I will say even though the details on the aliens were silly (doors, water, etc.), they had some of thee creepiest moments on film I have ever seen. The shadowy figure on the roof staring at him as he casually looks up out the window on the kid's bed. I was like 'holy [frick]!' lol. What else... oh the video of the mexican birthday party on the news and you see it walk past and all the kids scream (gives me chills). Where they go outside and run around the house and it's on the roof and then the swing is moving as if it had jumped all the way over them to the swing set to get to the crops. The part where they can hear the dog barking, then you hear the dog being killed I'm guessing and then the creaking wood and wind chimes, totally creepy. And you can't forget the hand grabbing the kid in the basement.

I don't know about Superman, but than again Returns was crap. His take on Batman would have been different. I'm glad Nolan got his hands on it though he did an awesome job.

I don't understand how anyone could like Signs, it doesn't make any sense? Why would aliens come to a planet that is 98% water which is also the basis of every living thing, yet decide, "Let's go attack that planet even though the H20 is deadly to us" speaking of which when they're out running about in the corn fields, why is it that the moisture in the fog doesn't hurt them? What about the morning dew?

I hate Shamalackadingdong....

Im sorry to say but no one put a gun to his head and made him write and direct these films. This guy has just been drinking his own Kool Aid because Teabag's post couldnt have been more accurate.

He certainly doesn't think his movie's plots through enough, but I don't care what anyone says, the guy is a master at atmosphere and he really makes for a connection to his characters. Unbreakable probably the greatest CBM ever made that wasn't a CBM(if you get me), so I would have been curious to see his take on those properties. That being said he has also made some howlers. But I still think its hilarious how he is demonized now by all and sundry. He has made a few movies. Some great, some average, some awful. So has Stephen Spielberg. I still haven't seen Airbender and don't really intend to. The happening was bad enough. But that doesn't mean he will never make a good film again. We are not talking about frakking Uew Bol here.
Shaman
Shaman - 10/15/2010, 9:44 AM
Ror- If he hadn't screwed up Avatar, i'd be more inclined to agree with you. But now, after he DID screw up an adaptation which was very much his baby, i don't want him anywhere near another CBM. "Atmosphere" he can do better than most, which is merely one single aspect of what a quality film needs. When he pulls off a "Snyder/Watchmen300", a "Nolan/BatmanBegins", a "Norrington/Blade", a "Abrams/StarTrek" or a "McTiegue/Vfor Vendetta", then and only then will he be redeemed in my eyes. But i wouldn't even risk the chance.

Boll doesn't even take himself seriously. He makes shit on purpose to get refunded by his german government or whatever. He's oceans away from M. Fail Shame-a-lame who has the world's most inflated head ever seen and sells his shit as the next Lord of the Rings. Monumental difference there. And no one really suggest Spielberg for any CBMs either LOL

Shaman - 10/15/2010, 10:01 AM
Intruder- Yeah, as long as he keeps his space buddy Lucas the [frick] away from it i wouldn't mind. But i'd personally suggest Abrams before Berg for an SS feature.

Shamalamadingdong has been overrated from the get go in my opinion. The end of all of his movies suck even if the rest of it was decent.

Gaston- HA!!! Awesome! And said with that avatar on top of it all :))
