The Dark Knight Rises Producer Emma Thomas Briefly Talks Bane!

Check out what producer and wife of Christopher Nolan briefly had to say when asked about making Bane a part of the Nolanverse and whether he'll have his comic book "Nacho Libre" style mask...

Here is an excerpt from IGN Movies. I've included their version of the questions so that her responses make a little more sense, but be sure to follow the link over to the site by clicking the link below to read more.

The two previous Batman films have been grounded in that heightened reality that Chris loves. Introducing what's perhaps the most fantastical character yet from the mythos, Bane, one who is so larger than life, can you talk about the challenges of putting a character like that into such a real world and not losing any of things that make him so appealing to fans?

"I don't know. It's kind of early to talk about that. It's very hard to talk about this movie except to say that we're going to be staying true to the world that Chris created with the other movies and it's gonna be great."

So will he still wear that Nacho Libre mask?

"Either Thomas didn't know what Nacho Libre referred to -- hopefully, she didn't think it was some kind of Dirty Sanchez-style innuendo -- or she was just peeved that I pressed her for more info, but she shot me quite a nasty glance as she left."

The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released on July 20, 2012!

Maybe she's just pissed that he'd mention "Nacho Libre" in the same sentence as the movie they're working on... Maybe try "luchador mask" next time? lol

LOL. i hope she thought "nacho libre" was a dirty sanchez.

IGN: "Will bane be wearing a dirty sanchez on his face in the movie?"

Lol@jazzman - Ha ha, you're right. I hope they don't make it look like a giant Rey Mysterio, 'cuz I never perceived Bane as a Mexican wrestler. I just hope they stick to the Knightfall story arc.

I dont get how Bane is so unrealistic. How is a super-steroid any different then having fear gas?
scapegoatjones
scapegoatjones - 2/5/2011, 12:36 PM
Wait, is the question what's more realistic (?)

A. A gas having instantaneous hallucinogenic effects

or

B. A steroid instantaneously increasing body-mass

- About Bane : In Nolanverse, maybe the explanation for the pumping machine with the tube would be more like a "Hitech portable dialisys machine" to help the kidneys fonction due to overdosing on steroid. That could make sens.

@thanos83 they dont need to make him a CG character at all, they should use CG to make him "appear" big ,if they CG him intirely that will be an EPIC FAIL.
just think about lord of the rings Gimly wasnt really a dwarf (and the actor who played him was acctually one of the tallest men on set) thay used camera magic to make him little, AND THATS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO BANE PERIOD..i dont want to see the hulk with a mask
it would ruin all three movies than...

So she didn't comment on the mask at all, don't advertise it like she did. The editors of this place must be able to grab anything consider the amount of reaching they do.

People get mad at me for getting mad at them for talking shit to the editors all the time. I see other people defending them too, but those people defending don't get attacked nearly as much as I do. I must really upset the bitchers or something lol.

Some people should have a better sense of humor. From her response I would guess that she knows perfectly well what the reference is and, further, that it IS part of the Nolan concept or why would she get so upset?
RyanTcone

@BFGLOOM Its not news, its Editor's burying interesting articles with their ego.
Vital

From this site. He reads and stalks each editor's articles when he supposedly "hates it so much", yet he keeps reading them lol. Dur dur. Somebody's a tardhatch *looks at Ryan*

"I read the articles I hate to read about." That's you in a nutshell. You make no sense whatsoever. And all of your comments are about the editors and not of the topic at hand, which are what the comments section is meant for- Discussion. Try it.
