Danny DeVito reflects upon his time on the Batman Returns set while attending the Tim Burton exhibit at New York City's Museum Of Modern Art.

MTV News got the chance to ask Danny DeVito what he remembers most about his time with Tim Burton,

"I loved being with [him] on the set. We love hanging out. I love to watch where he's going, what he's trying, all the different things he does. I had a great time with him."

Burton's take on Batman's nemesis, the Penguin, was received with mixed reactions from general audiences; mostly because of the grotesque change in the character. Despite this, Batman fans loved the fresh and sinister portrayal of a usually campy villain. Whether you loved or hated it, the Penguin's costume did have a big advantage for the actor who wore it:

"Talking about Batman Returns, he's got me in this armadillo suit and I'm in a place that's so freezing — the stage was so cold — I was the only one comfortable," he laughed. "Everyone's walking around in scarves and hats ... I'm in pounds of latex or whatever the hell it was."

MPP - I very much liked his portrayal of the Penguin in Returns. DeVito did a great job with the character all around. What did you think?

If you're in the NYC area, don't forget to check out the Tim Burton exhibit at the Museum Of Modern Art. It will run through April 2010.

The Penguin isn't even close to as cool as Frank Reynolds. (This is where I would put a pic of DeVito as Frank if I knew how)...

I thought it was a very fresh take on the character at the time the movie came out. If you think about it, it's not that much of a stretch to make a guy called the Penguin be more penguin-like. However, if they ever decide to reboot this character in some incarnation of the Bat-franchise, it would be kinda nice to see the comics version.

The penguin is a crap character, Danny devito made him unique and interesting. I still think "Batman Returns" is the best Bat flick to date!

He was excellent in the movie..but that character was not the Penguin. The only reason I didn't care too much is because the actual comic Penguin..is shite!

He did the best he could with the car he had at the time. The only real issue i had with him was the damn birds. That was campy as hell. I could see if he had a pet, but an army? WTF. Other wise I really liked the film.

I was pretty young and not so knowledgable about Batman at the time, so canon never entered my mind. I just always remembered it as being pretty creepy and him eating the raw fish and black drool and spittle coming out of his mouth. Then last time I watched it, was not so affected. So many movies have lost their childhood lustre for me, unfortunately.

Weapon@ u r dead on. I liked the movie alot but I still laugh everytime I see the group of penguins with frigen rockets on thier backs :)

ror@ couldn't agree more, the penguin has always been a horrible bad guy for batman. I picture him as more of a flash villian. That's actually why Burton went this direction cause he said the penguin was a crap villian in the books. Bravo for him.
