Production on the highly anticipated Captain Marvel officially
kicked off today, and in in a little over the year we’ll get our first female-led Marvel solo film. Brie Larson, who plays the titular hero, underwent a rigorous 9-month training regimen to prepare for the monumental role, and today she gave us a sneak peek at the results.
Celebrating #MondayMotivation, Larson took to Instagram to share a quick video some of her workout. The video features the Academy Award-winning actress performing five quick pull-ups with ease, while showing off some insane back muscles. She captioned the post,
“Nine months of training really does some stuff to your body.”
Larson also shared a photo of herself relaxing in a beautiful pool-spa.
Larson is no stranger to training for her movies. In 2016 she put on a whopping 15 pounds of muscle for her award-winning role in
Room.
“I was able to lift things that I never felt in my life I would be able to do,” she told
PEOPLE at the time, detailing that she would get up early each day to strength train before filming started.
“That became such a huge part of the routine of making this movie,” she said. “Every other day, I worked with this incredible trainer, and she would have me lift extreme weights over my head. Just having that, being able to deadlift before I went to work every morning, gave me this mental change that I never had before.”
As production continues on Captain Marvel and we get closer to its release, we'll likely hear more about Larson's intense training routine for the movie.
Captain Marvel hits theaters March 8, 2019.
